From the looks of it they took the photogrammetry images in the fall and then the autogen is very green and doesn’t blend in. @SeedyL3205 can the team look at Charleston and Boise issues from this post and the one above that I posted? Boise is even worse because of the terrain morphing around the river and the water covering terrain, but this definitely kills immersion
Correct (for the most part). I’m taking a guess here, that US simmers are the majority, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable for MS to pander to the largest customer base. Could be way off. Regardless, I’m guessing we’ll see the next batch of World Updates focused on other locations.
Some photometry looks better, some worse. But overall, ok.
I would like to note, if Chrome Canary is open when I launch MSFS, chrome canary widescreen’s and I have to task kill it. However, it will then open back up and be fine (browser and MSFS). Could be a Canary update too. Didn’t happen before. And haven’t troubleshoot yet (no error or warning event codes… well the xbox app disk management after MSFS close error that always throws (I have the services to manual tho). All just fyi.

I installed this and only had a minute to test on a takeoff from KDCA. There was a building on top of the Lincoln Memorial.
I have:
-DD KDCA+DD Landmarks both from Marketplace
In addition, I have:
-FB KIAD (haven’t flown there yet but it’s installed)
-Three Chicago Products-DD KMDW, DD Chicago Landmarks+FSDT KORD
On top of that I’ve got a whole host of other US scenery airports/fixes-many of which are in/around places that have been updated in WU10 (like the freeware crescent bridges in New Orleans which were added in this update)
If anyone else has issues and/or workarounds/fixes please let me know I’ll be scouring around here for a bit.
Actually, when the year started, it was always planned one month sim update, one month world update. The delays with SU8 and SU9 to get the sim to be stable altered that. So about 3 months ago, suddenly it shifted to two world updates in a row. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of time between world updates for Gaya and Orbx. So I expect what happened is, they mainly focused on adding new handcrafted POIs, tried updating the DEM and the imagery. Something that would be well received, but wouldn’t take as much time as a whole new region. But as noticed on this thread, they updated just photogrammetry without adjusting the ground textures, etc. So in other words, it wasn’t a full refresh, and the transitions between old and new, and different sources, they have issues with transition. . It was something they could put parts in to save time. And unfortunately, it is showing. Fall PG with surrounding summer terrain, different DEM sources used without a transition, etc.
And I’m not going to fault them for the decision. Jorg is finally admitting what the forums and the Asobo team has been telling him, the one month staggered releases are too too quick. I fully expect next year instead of 6 and 6, you will probably see 4 and 4.
Is manual cache just when you have rolling cache off or is there something different I can do? I fly Northeast to Florida quite frequently so anything for better scenery I’m up for trying.
On the subject of Yosemite, is the collision box on Half Dome still a hundred feet above the visual representation? Every attempt to buzz the summit ends with a crash for me.

This was a good update, thanks. Smoothed and increased my performance back to what I was getting before the last update. Overall this one went well.
Im sure if the lowest bidder was Google and not Bing we wouldnt have bright green roads everywhere and multi colored patches in cities…
Rolling cache… Is that not it? And how do I know MS servers are running slowly? Everything on Xbox live and in MP gaming is very smooth and snappy.

After 2 WU for the USA, Los Angeles does not look better, even worse in some areas, instead of palm trees - still monoliths, also there are new artefacts after WUX - black lines on the water.

No. No one would think that. And if you go back to my post and especially to the video that was posted as well about this subject you‘ll understand that this is virtually impossible, unless you would sponsor a HUGE crowd of people going over each and every square mile of satellite textures.
And even if you find textures with a „green tint“ or „washed out colours“ - what are you going to do about it? Open them in some photo editor and colour-correct them? Such that they still match with their neighbouring tiles?
You could do that, sure (and again, that is being done, just in a (semi-?)automated way - and you can fix stuff only that much, aka „garbage in, garbage out“).
Just not for the entire of USA, let alone the world. And for sure not for a 60$ game (yeah, here you go, I said it: „game“ ;))
But on the other hand, I would expect that Photogrammetry cities added in would be checked to see if they match the surrounding terrain. One of the cities, the PG data was from fall, and the terrain was from summer, so its muted brown in the city, with definitive lines where the PG ends, and then suddenly its bright green terrain. I’m sure that is a problem that has been encountered before with other world updates and merging content from multiple sources, but this time it wasn’t checked.
So I do agree with you, they can’t check everything. If some town develops a new bump or hill or something, it probably isn’t going to be caught until after release. But there are obvious places here where new data is replacing old data, and the boundaries between of the newly injected data is something you would expect checked.
