Discussion + Poll: World Update X: United States and US Territories (1.26.5.0)

Because Microsoft wanted to make as many announcements as possible to generate as much hype around their Showcase as possible? I don’t think it’s any more complicated than that.

EDIT: based on the activity on this forum in the past couple of days, they seem to have been successful.

Looking at the changelog, it’s unclear to me if the entire US has gotten MESH and IMAGERY updates or if it’s just for the urban areas listed as updated.

• Updated elevation data for the USA
• Updated aerial imagery for USA

Anyone know what was updated? If the mesh was updates for all of the US, does anyone know what meter it’s at now vs before? Thanks!

May have spoke too soon, Boston, NYC, better than usual, London, worse.

I literally did a zero variables set of tests this AM.

When that’s happened to me in the past I’ve completely shut down the pc and started it again and then everything fine but maybe you already tried this

I reainstall game services and it works.

Yeah I have in the past but didn’t do anything. I will try it again. I just really don’t want to reinstall the whole with all the community content.

As has been stated already, a PC reboot is likely to reveal the update. Give it a try.

KBID (Block Island) is included as a handcrafted airport in this World Update. I briefly reviewed it here when I bought it from Gaya via Orbx (publisher).

This is Gaya’s retail version:

742963996fb469e1752988777549288c252803ca_2_690x388

This is World Update 10:

The WU does not contain the ramp aircraft assets - including the iconic NorthEast Airlines Twin Otter (they have a fleet of 5) that flies hourly to and from BI to Westerly during the peak seasons. Otherwise, it appears to be identical - which makes sense since Gaya does a lot of the airport builds for MS.

Just a heads-up for anyone wondering. I’m reinstalling my Gaya Retail version to see what happens.

Give a reboot a whirl and with so many people all downloading sometimes this can happen and the update is not pushed. Fresh reboot and also with internet I always try and it’s worked thankfully

The Grand Canyon certainly doesn’t seem to have been improved. It still seems to have the same low quality aerial image, from what I’ve just seen of it anyway.

Yosemite looks a bit better. Its not night and day better but you’ll definitely notice an improvement if you’ve flown over it a lot in the past.

Personal Comments:

Another user has some interesting 3rd party comparison shots here as well. Even if the 3rd party addons are more detailed, this is still a big improvement for those on the stock sim.

Well it looks like WUX has killed real-time live traffic. Been sitting at JFK for several minutes and no planes on the ground or in the air.

Anyone seeing live traffic? I have turned traffic and data on and off to no avail.

Same. I’ve spent the last 1.5 hours trying to download it on Xbox. Restarted everything, but still no luck yet.

for me it is working, even if you want full experience then use AIG

Very very likely the issue is on your end.

Yeah…reboot didn’t do anything…:frowning:

Yes, I restarted sim and was able to finish it

I think China may be problematic, as the Chinese government is notorious for it’s secrecy and falsification of GPS data… Roads are famously out by hundreds of metres and intentionally aren’t shown as they’re laid out in real life, so getting any accurate photogrammetry must be very difficult indeed.

Live Traffic is working fine for me. Here’s a screenshot I took two minutes ago at KJFK. You can see JetBlue 1498 on final arriving from KDEN.

And here’s that same flight on FlightAware:

Best feature of this update by far:

Improved long range visibility of the windsocks

That’s one of the “low hanging fruit” quality-of-life updates done, 999 more to go!

I hope Alaska has had some love as the few parts I visited were a little dull. Don’t really understand the secrecy behind the update though. The community will be somewhat split between the mainly US-based residents who will be overjoyed and the rest-of-world residents who will wish their area was covered instead.

Clearly US data sources are easier to come by and it’s the biggest market (probably) so it makes sense in any case. Any world update is a welcome update :+1:
