Discussion: Update #4 (1.9.5.0)

Updated.
Crashed after install in menu screen.
Rebooted.
Verified 1.9.5.0 version installed on MS Store.
Started again as administrator.
Press any key still showing.
Then crashed in main menu again.

Biggest pile of garbage this game. Bought Deluxe version. Never again with any software.

I’m not reinstalling or anything my time is worth more than just fighting with a piece of software that breaks the more the developers patch it.

I enjoyed it on launch it worked for me fine now it’s unplayable.

Yes… but does Asobo/MICROSOFT themselves use the software, or do they contract out the Ticket managment to a sub-contractor.

ie, When you call ZenDesk, are you speaking to your Doctor’s Office, or their Answering Service ??

AI Control is still not flying towards headings correctly… I am very disappointed in this. Guess I’ll wait another two weeks to hopefully have the game working as it did before the 1.9.3 update…

Here in Az we don’t do DST therefore half the year we are MST the other half we are PST. So sim time by default time never matches up to local.

Try and Update the Japan files in the Content Manager, fixed it on my side - Dunno why there was no information that we have to Update them manually

I have a problem since i tried updating to 1.9.5.0. Yesterday i opened the Microsoft store and it all was very laggy. After a while it stated that MSFS was updated to the newest build.

Now when i click “play” or click the desktop icon to start MSFS nothing happens at all. The app doesn’t even start.

Is that a common problem with this update? What can i do?

Are you SEROIUS??? This update is to fix half of the mess ups from the last update. They haven’t fix ANYTHING!!! Weather is still a hit or miss. Missing ATIS, and missing airports (like MPTO). You have thunderstorms with clear skies, and weather doesn’t reflect METARs. I have submitted several tickets to Zendesk just to be ignored. What a waste of time! And they ignore these forums as well. The only way is to give 1 star reviews in Microsoft Store so no one else buys the game until Asboro/MS fix all the bugs for once and for all.

Also, a new bug. After you switch to ground frequency the only option you got is the “Say again” and it gets stuck there. One thing after another. NEVERENDING!

This one may work for you then:

Yup. It has less bugs than the current version. At least you could practice VOR approaches. Maybe this version will be free of bugs by 2030?

Pretty simple observation to what you’re seeing. Don’t assume everyone has the same opinion.

ASOBO: One simple Question & a simple Suggestion

QUESTION:
Should we be using Windows 10 2002 (latest version), and is this the version MSFS is currently being developed to be compatible with.

Surely you are not expecting those that purchase a just released MSFS, to be running a version of W10 that is over a year old , or to downgrade to an earlier version, just to reduce CTDs ??

====
SUGGESTION:
Get everyone on the same page, or at least tell them if they are not.

A simple (even stand alone) MANIFEST program, that knows the current development version of all Windows components used in MSFS, and scans the Users computer, reporting which ones are not up to date, or matching the version that ASOBO is currently using in a given Pathed release. - along with the PC’s spec.

This would be something of Value to submit to ZenDesk, with a given Bug report , and might even give you guys a chance to figure out common patterns, and make sense of differing Bug reports.

Nice simple job for an Intern Programmer – its not brain surgery

Changing the weather causes the sim to freeze for up to a minute. Never had this issue until now.

After the last 1.9.5.0. update I can´t load the Content Manager

Do you have any liveries installed in your community folder? Apparently some of them can cause this issue.

FWIW, I let Windows automatically update itself, and have never had a CTD on the desktop PC or laptop.

So after an extended 6 hour play session last night, I have to admit that things worked remarkably well. In the previous weeks, I could expect to CTD several times in a session, sometimes just randomly for no reason, other times the camera bug would cause it. Or if I inadvertently opened the VFR map.

I flew various different GA aircraft (C172, C182, Caravan, TBM, VL3). I flew both VFR and IFR flights. Initially the AP was trying to kill me. Like hardcore. Aileron trim was going absolutely ■■■■■■■. None of the planes were controllable. I made a thread about it, and someone suggested it had something to do with sensitivity in my controller settings. Upon checking that out, I saw the update had reset my sensitivity and my trim axis had been set to stupid settings. I reset them to my previous settings, and all was golden. AP worked without a hitch after that.

I’m pleased to say the porpoising is gone for the most part. I didn’t notice any signs of it when using FLC except on the TBM. All other planes I tried climb smoothly. The TBM will bounce a bit when climbing at higher FL ranges, but the oscillation is low amplitude and frequency compared to before. It’s obvious that it was a “duct tape solution” to get it working, and it’s still not quite right, but it’s a welcome change nonetheless. It was almost nauseating before.

It was a bit lonely flying without the cockpit poltergeist as a co-pilot. I’d forgotten what it was like to do a full flight without the ghost randomly switching things on and off in my cockpit. :stuck_out_tongue: But in the end, the cockpit poltergeist worked about as well as the AI co-pilot.

None of the issues that formerly ended almost all my session with a CTD presented themselves. That was a big plus. I’ll admit I was skeptical that these bugs would have been truly and completely fixed. But they seem to have been.

I did experience 1 CTD while changing weather. I had manually set the sky to overcast before loading in, and it loaded in with clear skies despite that. As I went in and switched the weather to overcast, it stuttered, froze, and presented me my desktop. This was the only CTD I experienced. But it also left stuff in memory preventing me from being able to restart the sim. I had to reboot my computer in order to start it again.

And oddly the VFR map froze completely for me on 2 of my flights. It didn’t cause a crash. I could open and close the map window, but its contents were frozen. Nothing was moving or responding to my inputs. Oddly, the map on my Garmin, which basically displays the same data, continued to work fine.

While it still needs a lot of work, the building heights are better. Flying around my region, it was nice to see the skyscrapers gone from the small villages and hamlets surrounding the city. Although that said, my downtown area now has way more tall buildings than it should. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Overall, I think this patch is finally one I can be satisfied with for the time being. With the last couple of patches introducing more major game-breaking bugs than they solved, this one actually seems to at least repair the worst bugs introduced in 1.8.3 and 1.9.3.

For once I can say I’m actually pleased with an update. It doesn’t fix everything and there’s still a long way to go to make this sim a really smooth experience, but I’ll take the small wins when I can get them.

I do not think the 2002 is an Automatic update. I think you have to tell windows to do that update. I assume tehrefore you have not updated to 2002.

Before 2002, I was not getting any CTD. based on Forum feedback, saying 2002 was working fine with MSFS, I updated … seems like that was a BIG Mistake… now I get regular CTD, within 30 minutes of a simple C172 flight

NOT HAPPY

Yesterday, before installing the MSFS update, I did go into Settings and manually initiate any outstanding Windows updates.

It must be difficult for Asobo to configure the program to work on the huge number of variable configurations out there. No wonder people are having difficulties. I imagine the XBox implementation will be a lot smoother.

Yes, I have some liveries installed in the Community folder, I will check but they are the same as in the previous update and the Control Manager was loading normally. I’m going to remove all the liveries and restart the sim, let’s see if that solves the problem
