Dispatches from FlightSimExpo 2023

Sorry, honey. It’s rice and beans for us - new avionics suite just dropped.

Talking about cloud, any hint about when MSFS (Steam) will be included on Geforce Now?

No, I think it’s Maxar, rather than Blackshark AI.

As @gordongreig rightly says, the new sim is taking 2D images and converting them to 3D modelling at approximately LOD16 or 50cm resolution, AIUI.

Thanks for the info. That does then beg the question - when do we get to see the results of the massive investment MS have been putting into Blackshark… can’t wait.

Turns out, Maxar and Blackshark AI have partnered to create a Digital Twin Earth:

Oh my goodness. Did they mention any kind of pricing? Not that it matters. I’m just wondering how poor I’m going to be.

Pricing seems to be in the first pic.

In the words of the great Brody in Jaws, when he saw the shark (Twitch stream) and looked down at his wallet:

“We’re gonna need a bigger job”

And if they pull this off, Nicky at Honeycomb be like the lawyer in Jurassic Park when he first saw the dinosaurs

“We’re gonna make a fortune”

:joy:

Ope… missed the price in the first pic.

Alternative title for those photos: “How can we get more women excited about flight simulation?”

In all seriousness. would love to see MS announce some partnerships with groups like the Ninety-Nines and Women in Aviation International. They have programs to get young women interested in flying, and getting them interested in simming would help there too. I know there are plenty of women who fly sims, and some women who are amazing sim content creators, but it’d be nice to see FSExpo as more than a sea of dudes someday.

Although ATC was nowhere to be seen in this presentation, I hope they do improve it for FS2024

effen awesome! They are really pushing the boundaries. Thank goodness they re-entered the flight sim market. Flight Sims had become like tired old socks prior to MSFS2020. Now we are seeing some genuine innovation.

Very nice to have the Stratoliner coming to MSFS, with similar quality as the DC3 will work for me.

Today was a great day for MSFS and flight simming in general:

The A2A Comanche is a fantastic product, along with the FSReborn M500, the C414 and the C310 will make MSFS the king of GA simulation for a long time.

The Double Ender is a fantastic release by a group that keeps giving better and better products for the sim, great job GF, instant buy for me when it hits the marketplace.

And getting the Trimotor as a gift is a really nice touch.

Also very nice the way Jorg discussed MSFS2024 and what it means.

There was the comment something like, “We will be looking at all systems.”

But if they were working on ATC surely it would have been mentioned in the slide.

Party thrown by Microsoft after the stream.

Seb was there, but he didn’t give any public remarks. Jörg spoke briefly. He told us everything there was to know about MSFS 2024 but swore us all to secrecy. (Just kidding! Or am I? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

350 per screen for the biggers ones, 250 per screen for the smaller ones, no price for the biggest one shown in the 787 setup.

So in that 787 setup you’re looking at 2050 dollars worth of screens excluding the big overhead one.

No release date mentioned, so it being honeycomb, I’m going to assume 2030
