As a regular Airbus flyer, I am very accustomed to what I consider very basic data at first glance as I fly, in regard to the flight plan.
Distance to destination is part of it, and I can’t fathom how to get that information so far within PMDG 737 systems.
Am I doing something wrong here ? I’d love your input.
What does the manual say?
Look at the PROG page of the FMC.
Thank you guys for your answers.
The manual does not provide any clue on the total distance remaining, as far as I can tell. Unless I missed a page, it is a total blackout. It not even is a question: feed the FMC, you’ll know what to do.
The PROG page, as I can tell, is only capable of showing the remaining distance before the top of descent. It is much welcome, but it is not what I am expecting, since I want to calculate that by myself the moment I will start my descent, regardless of what is provided by the automated systems. A double check, if you will, quite useful when you actually calculate when you go down, and how.
It is a start for sure, but by no means does it show at any moment and at a glance where we are from touchdown.
I might be recalling incorrectly, but you should be able to use the FIX Page to determine overall distance from a waypoint.
Remaining distance to destination should be indicated right above the distance to TOC/TOD on the PROG page
PROG definitely shows distance to destination.
Many thanks for your responses. I will indeed check that the next time I fly that beautiful beast.
-Updated-
Found it! It might not be visible at all times, but it is there all right.
Thank you everyone for guiding me in my learning curve for the PMDG systems.
Please excuse if this sounds a little bit unfriendly, but is this now normal whenever someone asks anything highly specific about FMC-programming or procedures or about the cockpit: “READ THE MANUAL!” as standard answer for everything?
That´s why we have a forum to discuss interesting things hm I would have never learned Airbus flying without my Airbus chat being able to ask literally everything no matter how complicated, or even so complicated and highly specific things only real Airbus pilots can know.
And sorry for not being able to answer that Boeing FMC question, I don´t know how the distance to the destination airport is measured in a Boeing.
Sooner or later someone will know the answer how to measure distance to the destination airport in a Boeing.
In the meantime… two aircraft jokes for the weekend
Have a great weekend!
It is OK GamingCat, the question has been answered, and all is good.No foul play, no harm done.
In the process, I learned more about Boing systems, thanks to people responding.
BTW, love your second meme.
