DLSS is the way. TAA is a wrong approach

Exactly, they both come from the same Edeka anyway, amirite?

I removed it so you don’t cry. The message is the important thing. Downscaling in VR…SURE what a great advice!!!

One must agree with this. And the RTX 5090 will finally make it usable in terms of FPS :slightly_smiling_face:

Actually I was using DLSS DLAA in 2020 and it was amazing.

No. The key is to use dlss performance and preset F.

A 4090 handles it easily in 4K.

Dlss performance, preset F. 45 fps

Where is the blurriness?

Which DLSS version do you use? The latest 3.8.10 was shrunken to only feature presets E and F, where by default F is used for DLAA and Ultra Performance and E for all other modes.
I tried the latest versions of DLSS/AA and frame generation in MSFS24 and some other games and i experienced quite some performance and fidelity improvements.

I tried them all but 3.8.10 is what I’m using now.
In 2020 3.6 was the best (my opinion).

I have the Asus TUF RTX 4090 OC card.

Look, I edited it because I don’t want to start VR WW3 but my original post naming YouTubers saying wrong things (that they repeat in every single video) won’t give me one single legal problem. So just to clarify I’m not afraid of any ridiculous legal threat. I can give you dozens of examples.
I’m just trying to give my advice to the unaware people out there trying to achieve the best visuals and performance. And my videos show the numbers and results. I don’t usually say “it looks amazing, wow”… I show and tell you how I do it.

Use dlss tweaks (preset F) these days before 4.0 and dlss performance if you want to get the best out of your 4090 in VR. Override resolution (upscale in openxr toolkit)

What would be the best strategy with a RTX 2060S to avoid the ghosting/tearing of the avionics (moving needles etc)?

Don’t let “Choonzy” intimidate you. All he can do is flag your post if he thinks you’ve violated the CoC and the final determination of that is completely up to the Mods, not Choonzy. You also won’t get a C&D from the YouTuber’s lawyer because that’s just laughable.

Good to hear! I hope all 4090 owners stick with it so there’s a 5090 in stock for me on January 30th :stuck_out_tongue:

Want to get into VR, but absolutely confused to blazes about which set to buy.

I see blurriness, especially on the right MFD.

In any case, I have the tried latest DLSS Performance Preset F + 5000x5000 and TAA and while DLSS gives better AA outside, TAA gives me clearer instruments and my 4090 can handle it a 100% render scale with a 40 FPS cap that rarely gets breached so that is what I use.

With my Quest Pro/rtx4090 with Link I’ve found that dlss/balanced works great as long as I apply 1.3-1.4x super sampling (oculus debug tool) beforehand. Also, set ODT asw mode to forced 45fps asw disabled. I use 80Hz refresh rate and this gives me a very nice, smooth 40fps.

Adding 1.3-1.4x SS beforehand and dlss/balanced makes my cockpit clarity 99% as good as I can get with TAA and results in smoother performance and far less distance shimmering (esp. at night). Also, no noticeable ghosting. Mainly fly heli’s in cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and LA, dusk/dawn/few clouds, with lots of rooftop helipad hopping.

Like most things in VR, settings advice is pretty objective, and not worth arguing about. Whatever works best for you, that’s great imho.

I often find it useful to hear other’s opinions as to what works best for them. However, I don’t find hearing other’s opinionated posts that try to justify what they like to use and try to dismiss other’s opinions. This is an open user forum btw, lol!

You’re right. Well done.

I am not sure if this is obsolet because this is more a VR discussion, but since the ghosting etc. is also a non-vr “issue” I want to contribute these 2 shots, comparing DLSS (Balanced) and TAA.

I don’t quite understand the discussion about the blur, because it is obviously there with DLSS. Of course I cannot say if in VR there is a difference.

And I also can’t say if I could avoid this with some settings, which would be very welcome of course

EDIT: Ok, it seems that the uploaded images are both degraded that some of the difference gets compressed away, but it is still notable.
