I fly out of a small regional airport in Columbus Indiana KBAK. We are nationally recognized as a fine general aviation airport with nice amenities. About 40 nautical miles to the North is Indianapolis International KIND, And a little bit farther to the South is Cincinnati and northern Kentucky International KCVG.
I would love to see some of you guys there and I would also love to see some posts of your local airports as I would like to give a lot of regional airports to try.
There is a small airport / airfield about 15 minutes from my house. I like to go there and watch the planes coming in and departing. Luckily Aerosoft has an add on for it. It’s really accurate.
The video is a little old since I just started making videos after FSX again
Yes I have all of the airports in my area as add-ons and like to use them. Sadly YPAD on Xbox does cause memory problems so I don’t fly there as often as I’d like.
Australia is a great country to fly around with a lot of varied scenery which looks spectacular from the air. As a large and spread out country air travel is of course very important, with a good range of short and medium haul internal flights and long haul international. Even the longest non stop flights worldwide IRL.
Same here! I love flying from my local small airports. I leave in Paris, France, but also fly (in real) as much as possible from San Diego. So, I have several choices and even rebuild them as freeware for MSFS/PC and the community.
From San Diego, where several regional exist and my flying club resides (Plus One Flyers) : Montgomery Field (KMYF), Gillespie (KSEE) or Ramona (KRNM)
I kind of have difficulty deciding which one is my home airport based on how far it is away and where I trained out of to get my pilot certificates and ratings. So I consider both as my home airport
For me KSNA, John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana, CA is the closest airport to me as I live only 10 minutes away from it by just taking the streets and not highways. You can actually see my house in the picture that is provided there lol. I usually do most of my flights out of here 90% of the time.
Really hard for me to choose love both these airports. If I did have to choose one, I would prefer KLGB as it is more GA friendly and it being a Class D airspace makes it easier to fly in and out of there. KSNA is a Class C airspace and is more focused on commercial aircraft rather than GA.
Hi Mark, I sim out of my local uncontrolled airport KLNA in Lantana Florida, most mornings at 9AM Eastern time (Unless I get an invite to meet someone somewhere else )
(I got my private pilot license there in 1997 and often park when returning from a flight where the flight school’s rentals always needed to be parked.)
The planes I fly most are the canard pusher indiafoxtecho LongEZ, the Cabri G2 helicopter, and the ICON A5 pusher seaplane, although I have fired up the Diamond DV20, and the Cessna 150 (which I got my PPL in).
I am always looking for folks to fly with, and I do voice comms and stream my flights on Discord as LongEzDreamer#6022. The Discord streaming allows me to “take passengers” or “be a passenger” in someone elses flight! DM me here or on Discord and we’ll arrange a time “I can meet you at KBAK” and fly together. (It will be a little nicer to visit Indiana that way than one of my business trips to Evansville back in 2010, when I woke up to below zero temps and had to scrape my car’s windshield.)
I used to fly out of CYYJ Victoria BC, but there are terrain glitches all around that look like they will never be fixed. I never go there now. You can find me at Whidbey Island, Seattle or Vancouver now.
Mine is RPVI (Iloilo International Airport) in the Philippines. I live about 11km away from it.
It has a single runway and no taxiway so theres the back-taxi action when youre on the big planes.
Its primary traffic is from Airbus A320ceo/neo from Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines. Theres is a small GA outfit that has C172s. Come visit in MSFS
Sometimes I like to fly out of 7S3 (Stark’s Twin Oaks), a small airfield in the edge of the burbs/country outside Portland, Oregon that’s popular with local GA fliers and home to the local EAA chapter. The default sim version has the hangars much too tall, which is a source of mirth for the locals.
There’s a customized version on fightsim dot to, but I had some compatibility problems with the hangars which not everyone can reproduce. Ah, MSFS.
