I am so tired of asking and trying to find out why this is happening. MSFS claims I have trackir. I have never had trackir much less have had it installed on this pc. Obviously i can throw msfs in the trash as no one will admit this proplem exists. I would not really care, expect is no way to get tobii to work with this program default to trackir that does not exist and no way to make it not recognize it. Does anyone in this community have more pc savy then the peeps at Asobo to actually solve this problem.
Hard to follow your question, but I think you’re asking how to get your Tobii tracker working?
Suggest asking in the Hardware/Peripherals forum.
Looks like MSFS is seeing your Tobii tracker as a Track IR.
There IS a form of TrackIR built into the sim, though it’s not the TrackIR third-party addon. It’s shown in one of the drop-down items in the toolbar. I use it with free head tracker software Opentrack (also needs AITrack) - as always Google/You Tube is your friend. It’s adequate and easy enough to set up but I’ve ordered the proper thing and hope it will be better.
Know nothing about the Tobii tracker, only that it does the same thing. Researched both before I ordered.

Search TOBI , maybe something there?
Also search the net for" tobi msfs " for ideas.
It’s 3rd party and honestly not msfs responsibility to make it work. Maybe tobi has a forum or help desk?
yes, this is exactly what is happening. it lists both trackir and tobii as active and of course nothing works. I have googled, searched and have done a bit of cussing. Tobii is working fine, just not in MSFS. I am not going to reinstall MSFS. So far no one seems to have a clue and the consensus seems to be that i do have trackir which is pretty much impossible. One person did have a comment that made sense, that i had no track ir installed. This is not true but it was a good try.
afaik TrackIR is generally synonymous with the branded item where you attach an IR camera to your monitor and little trackers to your head and it tracks your head movement using Infrared light (hence, TrackIR). There are other kits that are similar, but nothing more than prebuilt DIY kits sold as “competitors” to TrackIR (sold by NaturalPoint).
Tobii is completely different. That uses eye tracking technology to slave the games camera view to your eyes (and i can presume it can track depth to some degree but i don’t know). From the light perusing i did into eye tracking, the tech looks very patented and it seems Tobii is the only company to have successfully commercialized the tech for the gaming industry and have more or less cornered the market for this tech in game.
That all said, I googled “Microsoft Flight Simulator Tobii” and found this. Right here on these very forums:
Hope this helps
I don’t have a Tobii Eye Tracker but it seems that it CAN work - YouTuber “GripperSim” has one and has posted several streams in that last month or six weeks using it. So while it might be a common peripheral in use by folks on this particular forum, but it can be made to work.
That said, let me address a common misconception about the second point: the way the sim “recognizes” any head/eye-tracking device and software as “TrackIR”. I don’t have a TrackIR device myself, but I have played around almost since the sim launched with webcam face tracking (AITrack in conjunction with OpenTrack). And just last week I bought a Grass Monkey Simulations “Puck” IR head-tracking device, which also works in conjunction with OpenTrack plus a very inexpensive IR webcam (this $80 device works fantastically well - no way can I see paying twice as much and waiting weeks to find a TrackIR 5 in stock somewhere!).
But in both cases, the output from OpenTrack software is seen inside MSFS as “TrackIR” and best of all, it just works ™.
Using 5 with all the latest software. As I have said, every game works with it including windows hello to log in. MSFS in control options recognizes both Tobii and TrackIR. Is no TrackIR of any kind installed and of course tobii does nothing. Have tried rebinding key bindings to turn on and off. does nothing. No one obviously has figured it out. PC is really a pretty standard build. MSI 570x unify mb. 3900 amd ryzen 9, AMD radeon 6700xt, 32 gig of Vengeance pro running at 3200. Noting overclocked. Have looked for a solution since MSFS added Tobii to options. I considered rolling back to 4c just to see if it worked, but really doesn’t matter if it did.
yeah i don’t really know much about anything about either topic tbh. it just seemed like there was a confusion about track ir vs tobii and i hoped to clear it up. I considered getting trackir to take advantage of the graphics in DCS but i just cant justify graphics when the feeling of sitting in the cockpit of my favorite planes (across all flight sims) in VR can’t be topped. Not here to change any minds. Just being upfront
There is a setting in Controls Options under Camera Mode Switches, to toggle head tracking - you’ll need to use the All filter. There’s no value set in my sim (I use the options in Opentrack), and the description box is unhelpful, but I wonder if this has any bearing on the OP?
