Do these anomalies qualify as bugs?

Two things that have been annoying me for 12 months now…

  1. After a certain period of time at the gate, the airbridge detaches of its own accord, yet in the basic ‘ground’ menu it indicates it’s still attached. We could do with it staying attached until you request for it to be retracted.

  2. Where aircraft have multiple wheels comprising their main landing gear, the ‘drooped’ wheels always go through the ground until the aircraft is fully settled. Only a minor complaint but it’s still looks unrealistic.

Are either of these currently recognised by the community or Asobo?

I fly GA, so I can’t speak about jetways, but I can speak about the gear bogies from a coding perspective. It sounds like the present method is using a simple yes/no condition (“Boolean”) to determine tilt based on whether or not the gear is on the ground. This makes coding much easier, but produces the momentary dip below the pavement you describe. The alternative would be more complex coding that would require determination of when the first wheels touch, then taking the height of the wheels that have not yet touched, running the trigonometry to determine the angle of the bogie, and then once all wheels are down, start the animation for the strut compression. I can see someone like PMDG doing those complex calculations, but not Asobo - simply for the fact that they would want to keep things simple to reduce cost.

I have searched the Bug Reporting Hub @ User Support Hub if that issue has been reported but did not find any topic. I would recommend you to create a new one in the User Support Hub Scenery & Airports including steps to replicate so that other users can check and confirm before reporting it as a bug.

Is that issue the same than reported here ?:

If not, then you can create a new topic in the User Support Hub Aircraft & Systems including steps to replicate so that other users can check and confirm before reporting it as a bug.

Hi JakTrax78,

Could you be more specific, please? 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes? A specific airport or airports, or all airports with airbridges?

Ditto. Any specific aircraft in mind? All default aircraft with multiple wheels? 3rd-party?

It is difficult to repro with the information you provided.
Thanks!

The airbridges remain attached for around five minutes before detaching. I don’t use default airports but this is the case for all the Asobo hand-crafted and third-party airports I’ve tested.

Re the main landing gear, I only have the default B748 and B78X, plus the LVFR A339, and any drooping wheels sink into the ground on touchdown with all three. I’ll grab a screenshot to illustrate it later.

Hi @JakTrax78,
For the airbridges issue, please create a new topic in the User Support Hub as recommended above and provide steps to reproduce.
For the landing gear issue it looks the same as the topic I provided, please participate to it and post your screenshots there.
That way it will be easier for the community to provide their input and try to replicate.
One objective of the User Support Hub is exactly to determine if this kind of findings are bugs or not, so let’s continue the conversations there.

I can’t repro this at KSFO. Set up in world map:

Connected the Jetway:

Waited over 10 minutes:

Partial Specs & settings:
Build: SU15B 1.37.5.0
i7-12700K (No overclocking), 32 GB 5200 MHz DDR5 CL40, Arc 770 (16GB, v31.0.101.5333).
Graphics Tab: TAA, Render resolution 1700x960 @ 125, AMD Fidelity - 150, VSync - On, FRL - 100% MRR (60 Hz), HDR10 - Off, DX12B, TLOD @ 250, OLD @ 200, Motion Blur - Off, Other settings - all Ultra
Traffic Tab: Aircraft Traffic Type - Real-Time Online, Slider Settings - All 100%, Generics (AI, MP) - Both Off, Show MP in Vicinity - On, Traffic Variety - Ultra
Data Tab: Data Connection: All six options - On, Data Limit - Off, Bandwidth - Unlimited, Rolling Cache - Off
Developers Tab: Developer Mode - Off
3rd-Party Addons: None, Community Addons: None
MSFS Version: MS-Store, Standard, plus All WUs and most MS free aircraft
Peripherals: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro

Perhaps worth mentioning that I’m on Xbox Series X. I will reproduce the airbridge bug and report back but the undercarriage issue isn’t a bug — I was just wondering whether Asobo plan to make touchdowns with aircraft with multi-wheel bogies more realistic (i.e. so any drooping wheels don’t penetrate the ground).
