Thats pretty much why I dont need one. Then you start playing the game, well then I guess I’ll need a new PSU. hmmmm and a motherboard for PCIE 4. oh, well then I might as well…
Maybe FS20 will become TOO good as soon as these two new currently WIP Boeing 757 and the PMDG777 and the Fenix Airbus A320 Freighter are released.
Have you ever thought about the dangers when a simulator becomes too good?
All wannabe pilots will become so happy they will have no other goals in life (like for example saving up for a real Cessna 152…) but buy a 3D VR headset instead.
Or they can move to another, soon to be released sim, with a proper flight model, accurate weather and suitable for real world training!
I too am looking forward to that one. With whatever improvements they have made it would serve as an example, and further highlight those areas in which MSFS is lacking.
I would recommend that all Asobo devs. grab a copy.
That’s a good ‘work-around’.
Have you tried Pilot2Atc ? You might like the interaction there with headset and microphone
Like the Hi Fi separates at the bottom
I must confess, I don’t really bother with the world update POI’s any more. I am grateful for an uplift in terrain accuracy, and perhaps new autogen buildings that match the geographic location, as well as well-done PG, but that 's about it. I didn’t bother with Reno, and I won’t bother with the Maverick update.
I just want the sim to work better than it does currently.
I’m exactly the same. I agree totally
It’s a shame really. Loads of time is being spent on ‘stuff’ that I don’t really care about (and I know why) and this has been the case for a long, long time
Never mind. It is what it is. Notwithstanding this, for the moment, this is the best sim out there for me. And who knows what the future will bring ? Maybe some of us will return to the Xplane fold after a couple of years or so away in the shape of xplane 12. Whatever, the future is bright
The window Doesnt work in VR as far as i know
Fair enough. I don’t use VR now
Beta is in July. I know for a fact they won’t be doing any movie tie-ins.
Still broken since SU5
The performance degrades every update im finding.
Meh, that one seems about as compelling as watching paint dry lol, a good upgrade for owners of its previous incarnation for sure, but IMHO couldn’t hold a candle to MSFS as it stands now in June 2022, warts and all.
You mention “proper flight model”, but as always I’ve gotta jump in here and say that there is no “one flight model” in a sim… it’s the sim’s core aerodynamics/physics engine which is then used to implement flight models per aircraft. Up until May 2022, all MSFS had were the default aircraft whose flight models were poorly and sparsely implemented (unsurprisingly, since they are default after all, except maybe for the C172 ever since >=SU8 with prop physics + CFD). The core MSFS aerodynamics engine is very capable and what’s important are properly implemented aircraft… Enter May 2022, the flood of high fidelity aircraft with great flight dynamics (i.e. Fenix A320, PMDG 737, Milviz C310, Maddog MD80, Bae 146, Sting S4, etc) who all implement their flight models properly on top of the core MSFS aerodynamics engine. These birds all have great flight dynamics/handling not just observed by us simmers, but also those who’re IRL pilots of these.
So for me, as to OP’s question about MSFS getting good someday, ya I believe MSFS is ■■■■ good now when combined with these add-on aircraft… that “someday” was May 2022 :). With the combination of realistic aircraft and the sim’s world simulation, light rendering, weather, etc etc… what an unbeatable combination. Improvements are still coming >= SU 10 in ground handling (much needed), atmospheric airflow and visualizations of that, more CFD, live weather, etc. And also ATC + AI in the future. And now with the 40th anniv edition even the default aircraft are going to get beefed up in a big way with the inclusion of the iniBuilds A310, Milviz Beaver, Nemeth Bell-407, etc.
Great analysis
It is only five Cessnas away from perfection!
its getting more unstable thats for sure. the last SU and WU have completely killed any reliability I had. My friends and I are now experiencing a lot of crashes. I hope one day we have a product that works without any issue at all.
Well … Let’s wait and see.
None of us here really know how XP 12 will turn out but, if nothing else, I am pleased that there will be a viable alternative to FS20 other than maybe P3d which I have never used so cannot really comment on.
I hope for good competition for FS20. That way we all win.
Never get on a real plane, they have been known to fall out of the sky
What is there to wait and see… XP12 is XP12, MSFS is MSFS… they are both completely different. I have to agree though that one doesn’t hold a candle to the other. I won’t say which one Only because I want them both to succeed.
