Just wondering how many people run the sim with frame generation ON vs OFF?
I just purchased a new RTX 4080 Strix OC a few days ago, however I believe I might be getting a CPU bottleneck when it comes to 1440p with my older 10900K which I have OC’d to 5.1GHz… (tbh can’t even believe this CPU is already considered to be old! lol!).
I’ve been getting 59 to 60 FPS in the PMDG 737 with FG OFF in the air, and 70 to 80 on the ground, which isn’t too bad, but I’d prefer to not have it dip below 60 which it’s doing constantly and it’s kind of noticeable with my GSync monitor, for whatever reason I can easily discern between 59 and 60 lol. FG ON gives me over 120 FPS, although I’d prefer to have the “rasterized” frames. I know last night while the flight was loading, I began to get white line flashing artifacts and my screen would flicker, I made a separate topic on that.
My system is as follows:
Win 11
ASUS Z490 Maximus Formula XII
Corsair HX1000i ATX 3.0 PSU
Core i9 10900K OC’d 5.1GHz
ASUS Strix 4080 OC
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB DDR4 3200MHz
2TB NVME Samsung 970 EVO
In terms of upgrades, what would be the better route to take for my system? Either one of these 3 options would be a $700 upgrade at minimum but I’m not trying to just burn the largest hole possible in my wallet lol.
1.) Upgrade to 4K Monitor.
2.) Upgrade my Mobo/CPU/RAM.
3.) Return the 4080 and get a 4090 instead.
4.) Keep system as is ($0 lol)
FG on also - 13900K + 4090. It really helps smooth things out. Plus who doesn’t love getting 100+ “FPS” in MSFS after suffering with a ■■■■■■ laptop for so many years. LOL
FG On. Capped to 72 in NVCP currently (monitor set to 144Hz, 3440x1440 on a RTX4080 with 7950X3D and 64gb at 5800). Works well enough for me in most situations, even dense PG.
Yeah I get some artefacts but doesn’t bother me.
And I’ve noticed flickering patches on the loading screen as you put in other thread. But black regions, not white lines. I use Stripr. Very odd and does look like hardware is about to pop lol
Agree.
I came from a laptop with i7, 1650 max, 11 GB Ram and it was a drama in terms of smoothnes.
A few month ago I’ve built a desktop with an i5 13600k , MSI 4070Ti and 32 GB Ram.
What a relief!
Almost every slider to ultra, FG on, DX12.
To complete the rig also an Iiama 32’’ 4k monitor.
Not a single day of regret so far.
Tried FG on for a while after upgrading to a 4070 card- it’s great for casual VFR flying but the subtle flickering during camera panning annoyed me enough to turn it off. If I had my FPS counter, I can’t tell the difference between 60 and 120FPS. Just my personal preference!
Yep!! Until they fix the corrupted tiles we get from DX12, I will never use FG. Plus, I don’t know what it is, but FG off seems to have a much smoother picture quality. It’s hard to explain, but it almost seems like with FG On, things look way too sharp or something.
