Do you land…inside or out

Personally i land from inside, easier time with depth perception among other things

All crashes and accidents happen from the outside.
I never get in trouble from the inside. I think I am more careful because I can’t see. It’s funny though…
In F1 Racing. I insist that you drive from the inside or I disqualify your time.
I drive 1st Person always.
Here, I do not seem to mind…

Well, I have spent so many years landing from the inside that I find landing from the outside quite entertaining. I can see exactly what the aircraft is doing, as I manipulate the controls. In fact, I actually spend probably about 95% of my simming time outside the aircraft - I just love looking at the scenery unfolding around and beneath me.

I must admit, there are times when flying in VR that I lean out the window and look around outside…
Which at 325 kts can really mess up your hair.

I try to do everything from inside, including taxiing at both ends. Anything else loses immersion. (That’s also why I hate the massive blue arrows.)

The freeware replay utility is there if I want to analyse a landing subsequently.

Best is to be in the cabin sipping cocktails with the ladies while autoland takes care of business.

but outside the aircraft is just weird

Funny. I like flying VR while sitting out on our deck. I get so immersed in the realism that it’s disconcerting when a strong breeze comes up and hits me on one side.

There is a bit too much elitism and gas lighting going on this forum. Dials are the easiest method imo. With that it does not matter either in or out.

I fly 95% of the time outside the cockpit. I can’t read the gauges inside the most of the time and can’t seem to judge the distance to the ground when landing.

Unnecessary. Can we just discuss OP’s question without passing judgement on others, please?

Funnily enough, just recently started using external view to critique my own taildragger 3-point stall landings. Prior to that always used to land in cockpit view.

You mean like Mr. Clarkson here?

some day…some day…

Yeah… somethin’ like that.

Inside when on MSFS, outside when flying for real.

I only ever go to a 3rd person or drone cam view when capturing footage or screen shots. I try to simulate flying an aircraft as well as MSFS will allow it. And I’ve never seen a plane IRL where the pilot in command is floating in the air behind the aircraft while controlling it.

But end of the day, you use the sim as you see fit. If you want to play it as a game and fly in 3rd person view, great. Enjoy it. It doesn’t matter what the rest of us do. If you want to land in 3rd person, go for it.

I do that occasionally with my TrackIR as well. I can lean out the window and look around. It does give an interesting view, that’s for sure.

Luckily, I have no hair to mess up. lol

inside unless I’m making a video - love the tire smoke effect…
Also - TiR allows you to lean over the side which, with any open cockpit aircraft, is very nice.

Inside mister!! Always!!
