like a phone or tablet? asking because from my android tablet, i can read threads etc but get an “Oops…” error when i try to log in to post. is this just me?

I view / post using Chrome on my Android 11 phone and it works fine.

So I tested this from my phone, it obviously works, but I can’t log in from my Samsung galaxy A7 tablet, strange.
3 year old tech that’s a lifetime ago in tech terms 
What version of Android is it using? 8? 9? 10? 11?
I don’t have a Samsung tablet, but just tried on Silk on a 10" Kindle Fire HD and am logged in fine. Now that is a very closed android(ish) ecosystem.

this is the page i get when i try to login… going by the url, may be the problem has something to do with xbox live?
yep it was xbox live app. i downloaded it to my tablet, logged into it, then i could log into this website from my tablet no problem.
Have you tried autenticating as mobile site or if you are already, authenticate as a desktop site see if it makes a difference. Also is that chrome? if so try another browser just on case.
Also clear your cache/cookies (assuming you tried this already.)
