Ok, excellent! I’ll take a closer look.
Thanks!
I had paid 1 month subscription, I was impressed at first as I am subscriber to flightradar24, even the GA aircraft. However the Aircraft are rather too jerky and obviously using the Liveries from AIG.
Yes it is more immersive using real live traffic but having planes dissappear or suddenly appear is not immersive…think I will not be paying for another subscription.
Also if I set real world traffic in the options of MSFS it still uses the liveries from AIG, and its been ok.
Think I will be sticking to ai AIG (ai traffic)…for me personally its smoother.
Thanks for the tip! I have noticed that there are now more parked aircraft but was not aware of the learner-tool. I will definitely check it out.
Completely agree! Being included “in the mix” - having ATC control aircraft around me - is probably my main reason for not going further with the PSXT-RT combo.
This is indeed a major drawback. But I can compensate this by using FS-ATC chatter.
All in all PSXT is the best solution for me as an GA only simmer. Untill Asobo finally start to develop the AI traffic…which can take a while. Maybe years. who knows ^^
Yes, it costs a bit of money, but I got the benefit of 100% immersion, and immersion is the reason why I do flight simming. No other current AI traffic solution is capable of doing this. Not Asobo’s notorious broken AI traffic, and not the unreliable AIG Traffic controller.
Just my 2 $
AIG/TC is way too unstable and is (and apparently always will be, thanks Asobo ) at the mercy of the AI in FS.
I wont even discus the stock AI, nothing good to say about it imho.
Just got PSXT over the weekend. Have the $10 sub. I like it and it seems to work well but have a hard time with planes just disappearing. I know there is not really anything they can do about it at the moment.
It also seems a little too ‘jerky’ on the movements. This is an update issue I assume. Perhaps someone can develop a program that initiates aircraft placement via real-world data then sends them on their way by flying the ‘planned route’, i.e. not from data updates. I know this would not put them at exactly the right location but as long as the initial tracking data was known everything else would be ‘simulated’ and relatively relative. On the other end there would be challenges as far as taxing to the gate because that is not planned in advance. That could probably be ‘canned’ to a certain extent, i.e. shortest distance to the real-life gate, etc.
Oh well getting a little off topic. I do like PSXT but still have not pulled the trigger on renewal. Guess I have few more days to think about it.
I ran it for a month. Yes it is very jerky. AIG beats it hands down.
I think I have Dl’d most of the liveries and that was worth the time… Yesterday I sat on the tarmac for 30mins and just watched the traffic from the Cessna 310 at KSNA.
It convinced me not to renew.
I like AIG as well. My main issues are the cumbersome, very time consuming set up process. Not sure if this is common to all systems but TC continually crashes while running in the sim. Not a big fan of restarting it all the time so I’ve pretty much given up on sim traffic completely until resolved (if ever).
The big problem with AIG is that, near as I can tell it is still dependent on the sim and the jacked up AI therein. Until or unless Asobo can get their AI doo-doo together, AIG while much better than the in game AI can only be so good.
The main benefit of PSXT is very simply that it eliminates the sim AI completely by positioning planes via real world update. Also it is a very straight forward install. With that said there are currently technical drawbacks with the PXST method of traffic integration as well. Also, it is somewhat overpriced imo.
Which to use I suppose is a personal preference thing. Haven’t decided myself yet where I’ll end up. Regardless, as you mentioned, with both AIG or PSXT plane spotting can finally be a fairly relaxing endeavor in the sim at least.
I agree with the AIG problem… It took awhile to set up, the TC would always close during flight, and the constant hearing of ATC telling AI traffic to “expedite descent” got annoying quickly…
I have not tried PSXT yet mainly because of the price tag on it… I am still waiting to see if FS Live Traffic is going to be good whenever it gets released… But since there is still no ETA on it coming I am not sure how long of a wait it is going to be…
I have tried putting my default AI Traffic numbers all to 100 in the sim and I do have more planes at gates I rarely see any taxiing, taking off, landing, or flying… So all in all the sim still feels super dead for me…
Completely agree, I did a flight for KBOS to KBRD using PSXT. It was unreal taxing my Bonanza to the active having to wait for all the airliners crossing taxiways, etc. Managed to time it so no one was behind so no fear of being run over by a 737 or 320. Had ATC live going in the background listening to Ground and Tower, then Departure. Could actually see the planes I was listening to.
Coolest experience I’ve had in the sim.
Now the downside. This morning I had only one of my new Air Manager G1000/Touch Panels going. With the single FS panel (PFD) popped out and PSXT running the frame rate and ‘jerks’ were not too bad, they were noticeable compared to without however.
Just now I got my second second touch panel going, you guessed it, popping out the second panel from FS really hits the frames. This combined with PSXT running is right at the edge of being too jerky to deal with. Granted this is the NE corridor so air traffic is very high.
Just running PSXT, and AM (steam gages), everything runs relatively smooth on my setup.
I really wish Asobo would fix the AI or at least admit defeat and farm it out. As HellsWarrior660 said, all in all the sim does indeed feel super dead.
Anyone knows if I can use PSXT and RT with aerosoft simple traffic tool together?
Because I don’t want to use AIG I know it is good but it is time consuming to install.
Another question is when I am using yours control and with two players connecting together share cockpit, do the real traffic planes appear at the same position and same behaviour at the same time in two msfs ? So my friend also can see the same plane with me if a plane appears in front of us.
If you don’t mind me asking what are your computer specs? I never use the pop out panels except when I setting up my flight plan…
Ryzen 9 5950 (OC to 4.1 Mhz.)
ASUS ROG STRIX X570 MB
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
32 Mb Corsair DDR 3600
Just a side note regarding pauses, stutters, etc. PSXT is probably not as bad as I may be making it out to be. I feel I have a very low threshold for these types of thing. What I perceive as being too much may very well be what others consider ‘great’.
I just loaded up AIG TC for the 1st time it quite a while and while it did seem less ‘jerky’ that PSXT overall I’d have to say it’s comparable.
Yeah I was just wondering because I have similar specs… I just don’t know which one is worth it… Obviously AIG having issues makes sense as it is free but at the same time… Your product should not just crash randomly during flights multiple times in my opinion…
as said in many other topcis already, the crashes of TC are not related to TC itself, but an issue in SimConnect directly, Asobo is informed about this already.
You are right I did forget they addressed that… But still there are other options like FSUIPC that do not have the connectivity issues… So AIG could make their program run on that. I think I could be completely wrong as well lol.
Hello Kali, please do not take anything I mentioned as a criticism of your teams work. I fully understand that the vast majority of the issues revolve around Asobo’s flawed AI/ATC and can only be corrected by Asobo.
With that said TC crashing repeatedly is a factor that must be dealt with when determining what works and does not work on my system.
I do apricated and admire what you and your team have done with the little bit of access you have. I truly hope and pray that Asobo would give you guys full access to address what they either can’t or do not want to.
Yes you can use the Simple Traffic models and liveries with PSXT + RT.
Switch auto scanning liveries to off.
Set parameter lfolder0 in parameters.xml as a full path to the Simple Traffic ai models folder.
(see the Manual 4.1)
The recommended MSFS settings are in the 1 page Quick Start Guide, and there is a 30 page Manual …
All to be found at the PSXseeconTraffic web site.
Great addon. I don’t use the ATC anymore. It is terrible.
The Air traffic controller from AIG give me a lot of Go arounds, strange AI behavings on taxiways.
I’m loving this addon. When i’m not flying the learing tool is always on.
And 10 dollars, ok. I’m also paying voor Spotify and i think i’m using this addon more then spotify
