Hello all,
I want to buy BATC but I have 2 questions:
- Does it also feature AI traffic in flight now in MSFS 20 and 24? So AI traffic at your cruise level between airports? Or is there only AI traffic around airports? Because I like the AI traffic during cruise too, something which FSLTL always did for me.
- Does it feature GA AI traffic / VFR AI traffic already like FSLTL does in MSFS 20 and 24?
If 1) and 2) is not yet included, have they made any statement about wanting to add that in the future? If yes, where can I find that?
Please let me know, I am interested in BATC, it seems a good program.
Greetings, Boudewijn
This thread seems to imply there is enroute traffic but with some limitations (audio treating high alt enroute with approach frequencies and clearances, etc). https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/658217-batc-traffic-coming-to-all-users-imminently/page/11/
Dear Cutlass172, thank you, your post is helpful.
I use it on every flight, it’s a must have for IFR/airliner flights as of today and they do indeed plan to add VFR Support shortly after they introduce the LLM.
As far as traffic, they have density settings which you can change for departing, arriving, parked, and other aircraft not flying between the same two airports as you.
It is 100% worth a one-time $30 purchase, no subscription based model or anything like that. You can read about it here: https://www.beyondatc.net/
Don’t get your hopes up if you are big on airborne traffic. Even with all the density sliders at 9 or 10, you won’t see more than one or two other aircraft while you are airborne. They just aren’t there. Same for incoming / outbound traffic while on the ground. Spend an hour at any major US airport at rush hour, at best you’ll see 3-4 aircraft taking off, same for ones landing. That’s despite the gates being packed. It’s a nice little program, it takes ATC to a much higher level than the what’s in 2024 but for AI traffic, it’s got a long, long way to go.
Hmmm. This definately isnt my experience

Just stating what mine are. Every slider is at 9 (I tried 10, that didn’t change anything, just filled up every gate at the airport). The skies are pretty much empty. KDCA at 9AM. 2 jets took off in the 40 minutes I was on the ground. KBOS at the same time, 2 jet took off, 4 landed. 3 hour flight down the US east coast. 3 TCAS targets the entire flight, saw one set of contrails.
Not like you need to tweak a million settings in BATC for AI traffic, if there is some trick that I’m missing, I’d love to know what it is. In the mean time, I just hoping at some point FSLT can figure out how to get their program working in 2024, once that happens, I’ll drop BATC’s AI’s traffic in a heartbeat.
Do you have the FSLT or AIG or FsTraffic models installed? BATC release on these to display injected traffic.
You’re experience definitely isn’t what’s expected, at any even somewhat major airport (I mostly fly in Europe though) my experience is the complete opposite: so much traffic that you can barely get a word in, also en-route if it’s set to above 8 there is near constant chatter between controllers and ATC.
You would need to drop BATC’s ATC as well (at least it will no longer work with the AI traffic). You will still be able to use it for just yourself.
The data they use is from 12 months ago so if you have the settings on 10 you should get what the actual airport had a year ago at that particular time of day. Obviously if you turn the settings down you will get less.
Have you turned the inbuilt sim AI traffic off? Something is amiss
Yeah, I’ve got the FSLT models installed. Sliders all set at 9. Gates are probably 80% full of parked jets but hardly anything is moving. There are a few aircraft landing / taking off so I don’t think anything is botched, just had written it off to something inherent with BATC. I had heard from others that traffic at cruise level is way below what should be flying. I’m ok with that but it would be nice to see a steady flow of jets landing / taking off at the busier airports. KBOS being nearly dead at 0800 is a pretty good immersion killer.
Yes, 2024’s AI traffic is set to off.
