Don’t buy RTX 3090

@FrankGehry1192 When I was approaching into Houston’s default airport with live weather my game froze for 2 seconds near the runway before landing.
It’s only happened once. But apart from that, there’s micro stutters during the whole flight especially when I’m taxiing.
I’ve only been once to LA because I had to quit the game after I suffered so many stutters and freezes flying around the city. I was disgusted and upset.
I have rolling cache turned off as it seems broken.

Godfall requires more than 10GB. The developers stated that 12GB of VRAM is required to run it in 4k. Expect more games to have this requirement in 2021. The minimum for 2021 and beyond is 12-14GB. Soon we will see 20GB RTX3080ti.

I think no matter how high the frame rate is, it is of secondary importance. The most important thing is to be stable and not to jump. In most environments with cities, when using G1000 meters, CoherentGTDrew stutters for 0.3-0.5 seconds, causing the screen to stop and resume. This stuttering is unacceptable, especially when flying at low altitudes. I wonder if Aboso is aware of this.

Except most modern games don’t use that much vram without factoring lower resolutions, graphics settings.Your last sentence makes no sense!

@cdv00079374 please report it to zendesk. This issue has to be solved.
I have a 3000 series card and I have those same stutters during the whole flight

Of course, if you do not play in 4k ULTRA then you will not have any issues with 10GB. My last sentence refers to the fact that even NVIDIA is recognizing the fact that for ULTRA gaming in 4k in 2021 more than 10gb will be required. The leaks state that NVIDIA is preparing cards that have 16gb and 20gb VRAM (most likely TI versions of 3070 and 3080).

With the new consoles having more than 10GB of VRAM, most new games by design will try to make use of over 10GB.

@Severeeno I have a rtx 3090 24gb vram.

I play in 4K and I can confirm it uses approx. 16gb

Edit: I think that’s my RAM, I have to go back and confirm on this. Will let you know tomorrow.

I think that is just VRAM allocation, not actual usage, so it terms of performance there is probably no difference between 10gb and 20gb in MSFS.

But that might change in the future for 4k gaming. Like I said before, Godfall REQUIRES minimum 12gb VRAM if you want to play in 4k ULTRA. But to be fair, it is AMD supported title, so probably the requirement is imposed to sell more RX cards.

    • Cool story bro, got any proof? I guess not.

There you go. (I searched in Google “nvidia moving tsmc 7nm Ampere”)

    • They had no choice about what? What are you even implying with this statement?
    • How is this even a problem?
  • Google Search “3090 Vram heating” will be helpful for you. I have already copied enough links
  1. OK, this pretty much nails down this discussion, how would a sound minded person even consider a triple 4K monitor setup on a single RTX 3080?

  • Ask it to yourself, not my problem. I said 10gb vram is funny for me, because it will not be enough. You said “show me the games”. You insisted that 10gb vram will be more than enough and also said i have no clue between used and allocated. (Actually you said joke). Now i am guilty LOL.

Let’s remember the topic owners message

From my personal experience, cherish your current GPU and hold off until MSFS gets better optimization. The new Nvidia 30 series won’t, I repeat, WON’T make a difference towards quality or frames until Asobo does something about it.
I am seeing almost the same amount of performance and FPS when I had my good old 2080Super!

L.A. is still unplayable with a rtx3090 at ultra settings.

He/she said, Changed from 2080Super to 3090 and LA is unplayable. So if you wanna switch 3090 no need to do that. I just agree what he/she said. That is it. Free world, anyone can buy whatever they want to buy, this does not change the facts…

I changed my 2070 to 3080 and my fps is 100% better in resolution 5140*1440p , cpu is i9 10900k(oc). Ultra graphics and i got 40-60fps

Try it on a 4K
I get those same frame numbers with stutters added to it LOL

Count the pixels, really close at 4k

How can you even talk about facts when all your sources are “allegedly/reportedly/supposedly”? Every single one of your links is a rumour or clickbait. I had me a good laugh when you linked a game like Assassin’s Creed that runs like garbage on PC in general because of poor implementation. Why wouldn’t you just get it through your head that VRAM is a non-issue for what the RTX 3080 is intended for?

Just tested near KLAX with the Carbon Cub at 4K with 100 and 150 render scaling. GPU limited here.

VRAM usage is around 7GB (seen through dev mode) with 4K and around 8 or 9 with 4K 150 render scaling. No VRAM related issues though at 150 render scaling it was pretty low in terms of fps (29fps)

I’m still seeing GPU limited, but I’m still on a 2070S and running 3 4K monitors (just the center one with MSFS). i9-9900K cpu. However, my CPU usage is higher than it has been, so there may have been some change on that side. My FPS isn’t any lower, and it runs smoothly FWIW. Just my experience.

Thank you very much for test and information. I cannot say enough how helpful your input for me. Appreciated.

Same issue here, i have 3900X @4.3ghz all cores, 3080RTX & 32Go ram…

Turn up your graphics settings/render scaling till it goes away and says limited by GPU, fixed it for me with my 3700X and 3080 FE

Anyone with a i9-10900k , 3000 series gpu on here? Can you tell me if the stuttering went away?

I haven’t been able to try the new update since I’ve been working 16 hour shifts.

Thank you.

For those that have studders have you went to the properties of the .exe disable full screen optimization and check application controls to override.
