Downloading Base Content hangs

Spent hours worth of download and more download after removing files, turns out that updates doesn’t work well. Once I click update, it’s downloading then ready to install and then gets stuck on loading forever. Reboot the pc didn’t resolved it. End up removing all and installing the loot again

In another thread I test downloading some of the base content. Some minor niggles regarding the “passive” versions of planes but it all worked in the end.

I have the same issue as described by the OP for Base Content on the Xbox X.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I installed a lot of my packages after joining the beta, which went as expected, download then when ready, click to install, but after the latest SU3 beta build released, there was a lot of “updates available” but once you download they say “ready to install” but when you action them the black box saying it is installing comes up, with the loading circle, it just spins infinitely, even if im trying to do one singular update. As you cant do anything with the sim when that box is being displayed, the only way out is Alt+F4

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?
no

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
everytime

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Try update and install a package (with latest SU3 beta)

To the development team.

We have to kill the sim every time Install fails (over 90% of installs fail). Make the database install transactional, so that it can be rolled back.
Add a user Cancel button and a message pump to capture the cancel event. Then roll back the install. That infrastructure allows the user to recover from install/update failures, without rebooting the sim. There are of course other ways to provide cancel/rollback.

After that infrastructure is in place, you can resolve the thread safe issues that cause blocking. Good luck with that!

My download that was stuck in 1.5.3.0 successfully downloaded in 1.5.4.0. Anyone else want to give it a try?

For me it is even worse. While downloading and performing an other task on the second screen the sim hangs inmediately. Also when the dowload is ready for a file it will finalize this and that takes more than two minutes sometimes no matter the file size. The first time i updated the content it was busy for more then 10 hours.

Is there an option do disable installed content(s) without uninstalling them completely? Just like disabling Streamed ones.

Seems to be fixed.

My sim quit quietly yesterday (in the middle of a flight) and installed the 1.5.4.0 … So far, it is hanging since then with installation issues … hanging all day long with various restarts. I have no clue why …

a) All stuff suddenly gone
b) It does not stream/install without failures

Anyone else having issues like hanging with “Base Content” for hours?

Sincerely

I too could yesterday complete the hanging content update installations, after the sim update 3 beta next version was released.

If you think about it, many of us that initially downloaded a bunch of stuff, had issues with installing updates and unloaded everything, are now with this new version trying again…all at once. What we’re seeing is probably just some server overload until we pass this phase.

No, I have had some success with 1.5.4.0, but after way too many tries and way too much time. The average user would have given up long before I did, and I probably should have too. My latest hang-up was in trying to install KORD Chicago O’Hare as part of the 24 base content, Deluxe, or Premium deluxe package (don’t recall which). Results will vary, I am sure. I wonder if there should be a logical sequence as to how to download and install. No idea, just wondering. I have had 0 flight time and about 15 min of taxi time with 1.5.4.0, but hours of attempting to download and install content.

Yes, hanging with download and with installation. Each time, I’ve had to resort to the task manager
