DSD_Simulations Hawker Sea Fury - A very nice freeware!

Yesterday DSD_Simulations published a fantastic freeware Hawker Sea Fury on flightsim.to. Like the Swordfish the Fury is a fully native MSFS model based on the FSX ex-payware release by Bravo Zulu.

It features among other things 8K upscaled textures, a new realistic flight model, rockets, drop tanks and new liveries. Most of the liveries represent currently airworthy Sea Furys.

If you’re a warbird fan it’s a must have =) It’s very enjoyable to fly and great to look at.

Here is an aerobatic display with it over NZA Simulations fantastic new Wanaka scenery. Hopefully it can serve as a first impression of the Fury.

It looks and sounds really nice! Surprising it’s not getting more attention. Perhaps we are all suffering from over-saturation with so many planes out there? Thanks anyway for the news!

Saw this version at an airshow with my son. The pilot pulled into park after the demonstration, with a crowd of people now behind the plane. I said to my son, to watch this, and sure enough the pilot throttled the motor, and that beast roared. The prop wash, send hats flying, people driven backwards, and a (luckily empty) babies pram tumbling across the ground. All in a cloud of dirt and small pebbles. Priceless.

My only IRL experience with this plane was about 35 years ago at an RC competition called ‘Top Gun’ that included all kinds of large-scale models. The Sea Fury won, and I fell in love with the plane.

So glad to add this one to my warbird collection. Thanks DSD_Simulations!

I have done a few flights in it, for a freeware fsx conversion it’s extremely good - highly recommended

Yes, I’m surprised too. It certainly deserves more attention. It’s among the better freeware releases and it represents one of the best piston powered fighters ever built =)

Haha many people underestimate the prop blast of these birds! I remember when I was leaving a local airshow in the front seat of a friends Stearman a few years ago, we accidently send the rides tent flying  And I think most people are also surprised about the size of the Sea Fury when they first see it, it’s massive!

Fantastic liveries. Thank you for sharing them =)

Is there any chance you’ll do F-AZXL too? It was the first Fury I saw live. I think the combination of the very dark blue with the polished cowling looks spectacular.

I love this airplane…long story but we had a guy show up at our airshow with one of them. Lord just the sound of the Bristol Centaurus at full throttle was magic. Thank you for bringing it to the sim!

The aircraft is superb but I hope the author can update the appearance or material properties of the canopy glass in the exterior model, because for now it’s like invisible
