i am 2-4 fps in dx12 and 45-55 fps in dx11
very interresting thing for me: when i change it to DX 12 and turn off my V-Sync - everything is fine with 40 FPS ⦠if i turn v-sync on: stutter festival ⦠in dx 11 everything is fine! also what i mention is, that my GPU ussage (RTX 3090) in DX 12 is only about at 5% !!! ā ā ā ?!
Same here. I seriously doubted myself If I had put it on
. As far as a few short flights have shown thereās no difference to be seen. Not even in fps.
I asked CM for such a thread but I did not see it yet.
OK, I flew the Stearman in a country setting near my r/c club and performance in 2D and VR was actually pretty good. I was getting the same or perhaps a slight increase in performance in 2D and what I would expect in VR from before the update. I got no stutters in VR, using both fixed 31fps using Radeon chill and with that off I was getting 36 to 45 fps in VR with the same settings I used before the update.
Could not get the menu to work in VR, despite trying Ctrl 0 as someone has recommended, but it was only a quick test. So, on an all AMD rig, DX12 did not kill performance, but it seemed unstable. The first time I switched from 2D to VR (with the G2 already on) it worked briefly and then I got a CTD.
The second VR flight was fine though and seemed as good as DX11, but when I switched out of VR I got an instant CTD. Not sure if that second CTD was down to DX12 or bugs in the sim generally after the update. Not having a usable menu bar in VR is a massive pain in the buttkicker though. I have an Xbox controller and that has been reported to work the menu bar. Will try later.

Edit: Win 10
I found that enabling DX12 gave a smooth 70-80 fps with very minimal stuttering, whereas DX11 was giving around 20.
However DX12 was unstable at times with many CTDs. One I have managed to track down and is very reproducible. Reported in Zendesk #134627. CTD occurs with DX12 and WT G3000 when opening the ATC UI and converting it to an external popup.
From a perf perspective DX12 looks very promising.
My Rig: 3900X with RTX1650 Super.
I didnāt have as much a performance loss, I would say DX12 gave me 20% boost, the CPU was working much betterā¦when it worked.
There is more to be done, so at the moment it stutters and frameskips like crazy when something has to happen. Camera pan/scenery rendering, traffic approaching, avionics and autopilot events, etc - the poor boy is trying and you see he can run fast - but for now it trips, falls, runs like mad.

Gave it a quick try last night. Gtx 1070 card. I found much reduced fps but also reduced use of gpu. Will stick with dx11 for the time being.
i7-10700 + RTX 3090 + DX12 = 20% loss of FPS!
Back to DX11 for now.
Yes, as the Devs mentioned in Q&A this just the first rare implementation of DX12. It will get improved over time, so im not worried at all. Pretty sure we will see a big improvement with SU8 and beyond and then we can also looking forward to additional fx features etc.
DX12 is a CTD and performance hot-mess. Stay with 11. Itās āalphaā at the moment and I donāt think any real work has been done to optimize it.
Really donāt understand the hard push for it, nothing gained yet with it on.
As soon as I hit the āFLYā, system freezes and get āCTDā with DX12(beta)⦠my setup:

No issues with DX11
Could be a driver config with the card
RTX 2080 Super. Also for me bad stutters and FPS loss with Direct 12 enabled
Tell me what I am not seeing?. I cannot see a differance. Same old same oldā¦fps, graphics all still the same and the clouds are now worse in my opinion.

Enabling DX12 affected performance badly, stutters and FPS dropped under 30. With DX11 its smooth and Get around 48 FPS.
Yeah. With DX11 Iām getting up to 55fps in 4K with all options turned up to the maximum possible - up noticeably over SU6. WIth the same settings I can only get 35fps with DX12.
Still, they did say 12 would be no better than 11. Iām sure once its fully integrated 12 will blow 11 away.
I have found on my system (ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XI Hero MoBo, 64g G.SKILL TridentZ RGB DDR4 Ram, Intel i9- 9900k @5.1Ghz, Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240R, Nvidia RTX 2080TI) that DX12 has a nasty habit of being super jittery, with FPS fluctuating between 7 (yes, 7) and 60. I usually leave it locked at 30, because I get buttery smooth performance, but wanted to see if the DX12 addition did anything.
what I noticed is when DX12 enabled, GPU is not utilized fully.
For eg with DX 11 GPU is always 90% above. With DX12 its never cross above 50%
So DX12 under utilizing the GPU?
Really interestingā¦will have to give it a try (I usually run with Gsync + Vsync @ 60).
I had turned on DX12, closed the game and restarted the computer. I then went into the hanger and didnāt notice any difference in rendering with one exception being that after loading numerous planes eventually they started loading slowly and it took some time to load in the parts, like they would load in the model parts in stages. Eventually loaded a 6th aircraft and the sim stopped responding while it was trying to load the model. Switched back to DX11. Noticed last night as well I can no longer move the world map with my mouse⦠Is there not an official thread for this update?
