DX12 Issues - Weird Graphics Glitches, Stutters in Panning

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

Take of at Paris De Gaulle and fly towards the centre of the city

Are you using DX12?

Yes

Are you using DLSS?

Yes

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

What other settings are you using, for example the terrain and object LODs and overall render resolution? Dx12 uses more vram than dx11 so you will need to lower other settings to try and get your vram usage down. A quick test you can do is to fly the same plane, route, etc in dx11 and note how much vram is being used, then switch to dx12 and see…I’m going to guess your vram goes up and exceeds that of your GPU. It may be a bug in the sim, but dx12 does in fact use more vram than dx11 in general, so it could be both. For now, you may be forced to reduced your LODs, render resolution, or just go back to dx11 to see if Asobo makes more dx12 coding changes that might fix/reduce vram usage. 3090 GPU users don’t appear to have the problems as the vram on those GPUs is quite large (24gb).

Have a look at this bug post that explains what is happening (potentially), and a few things you might try as interim fixes….and you can also up vote this report.

I had the same problem (Eldering Trees), I’ve removed all add-ons and gradually adding them again. So far no glitches.

Hehehe, I know that one, I created the thread!

Going back to DX11. DX12 has far too many glitches and my screen keeps flashing white sporadically.

The issue is not related to VRAM being above your onboard one because I have 11Gb and it happens even if usage is below that limit. You should try to avoid that game goes above your limit to get the best performance. Reduce settings a bit when you see that behaviour. You can still force system, sure, but is not the optimal if you want to get the best results. Anyway using a fixed size pagefile helps a lot in this situation, as described in the topic linked above.

Cheers

Working great with my 3090 as well, DX12 DLSS Quality. In a very condensed area of payware (Toronto) I saw my VRAM at 18GB. I use a 32GB rolling cache on RAMDISK. I will do further testing today. Yesterdays flying was awesome!!! I have also removed V-Sync and use G-Sync since I started testing DX12. No tearing. very smooth. 26-38fps Panning views is very fast and fluid T-LOD 4.00, O-LOD 7.00

EDIT: This is the fist BETA I’ve opted into. Looking fwd to more testing. I have my full fleet of almost 1200 Addons installed. Let’s see what works, and what breaks

Getting worse

It makes sense. After bombing cities from orbit for decades, turning all major living (PG) areas into post apocalyptic landscapes, now the aliens are coming down to take over the Earth. FS2020 is really a world scale War of the Worlds saga

Another very satisfied 3090 user. DX12, DLSS at ‘Quality’, uses 11-12GB VRam with everything at Ultra and 4K. Plus my card is a good 12 degrees cooler than before. This is also the first Beta experience for me and so far it’s just terrific. Very pleased.

Appreciate the help, but unfortunately, VRAM has nothing to do with this issue.

On an i9-12900k, 32gb DDR5 RAM, 3080 Ti, Windows 11, latest Nvidia drivers – I moved everything from ULTRA to HIGH on DX12.

Same result, still have GPU Mem to spare.

Just based off these forums, it seems anyone with a 3090 has no issues w/ DX12. Everyone else does. A 3080 Ti is completely capable of DX12 and should have zero issues.

Even turning DLSS off in DX12 still does weird things to now the PMDG 737 (the black texture)

Makes no sense.

I suspect, it may have something to do with the driver side of nVidia cards.
When using DX12 in my 3080Ti it looks great and stays that way until after I start moving around the plane.
For testing, I always used to start at Zamperini Field south of LAX with a heavy modded LA area, so VRAM is maxed out right after loading the flight.

Jeff, did you try to uninstall/clean install your Nvidia drivers? I wonder if something got corrupted somehow…

Out of curiosity – any of us who are getting these massive Elden Ring trees – do you use any type of scenery addons, like AccuSeason or the 4 seasons pack by Bijan?

I have Accuseason by REX, just curious if that might be a conflict going on, but if others are still seeing these large Elden Ring trees and NOT use any 3rd party mods, that scratches that idea out.

No, I haven’t tried that, but I will after my flight. Are you seeing success w/ DX12 on a 3xxx card?

Nope, no trees addon and still I get the giant trees plus vertical tectonic plates and generally, things right out of the inception movie. There is something wrong with the management of the Vram leading to these glitches and to the extreme fps drops (in some cases)

Yep, that was I am thinking too. It’s not about a corrupted driver or even a mod, I don’t think, since so many of us have this issue.

Yes, I’m finding DX12 much better in SU10 beta then it was in SU9 as far as smoothness goes. I’m still playing with settings but as of right now, I’m also seeing better results visually with TAA than DLSS.

I haven’t experienced any of the graphic glitches you’re seeing.

I recently updated my GPU drivers to the latest (516.59) and so far so good.
