DX12 Screen flashing with Bloom enabled

I just checked, my AMD Fidelity FX is set at 100 (default I believe) and I have the flashing - I also tried turning it to 0 and still there. It’s not constant though so maybe you just didn’t have it when you did your quick test? I normally find it comes back right around the time I think its finally fixed! I’m on 3090, Quest 2 via Steam VR

I deed some in-depth testing - and the flickering is definitely related to AMDS Fidelity FX on my PC.
Hmmmm…

537.42 drivers here. DLSS “Quality”

no, VD with Spacewarp enabled = flashing for me (DX12)

That’s interesting and great if it has fixed it for you. Just to be clear, the issue I have what looks like an instantaneous full screen white flash and therefore much more than what I would call a flicker

Agreed - maybe I will try to take a video of the flashing I experience just to be 100% sure that we are all discussing the same bug. Disabling SSW definitely doesn’t fix it for me as I always have it disabled.

Just seen there is a video of the flashing in this other (non-VR) thread. It appears the same bug affects both 2d and VR.

Exactly the same here. Frequency between two flickerings about 15 seconds and a minute.

Also been having the white flashes in 2D with DX12 on (to allow FrameGen). Using a 4070TI.

Finally decided to google and see if anyone else was dealing with and here I landed.

Thanks for the tip on turning off Bloom as that is what fixed it for me.

same here, flickering on DX12 with bloom enabled.
turning of bloom will “fix” it, but I like bloom, sun looks awful without it, so it’s not really a fix for me…

hi everyone.
I don’t know if this is a real solutions but I after some combination testing I found out that on my machine I can get rid of those flashes while bloom is on (which I want/like) by setting the motion blur from (in my case) off to low. with motion blur enabled, I don’t get any flashes at all when turning on bloom (DX12+framegen).

maybe someone can try/test this, not sure why this works, maybe it’s just for me, but I can reproduce it. when turning motion blur back off, I do get flashes. turning it low I don’t get any… works for me, I can totally live with that motion blur.

cheers.

Getting it now for the 1st time that’s after I went into user.cfg and manually tweaked filmgrain sharpen
And fringe to 0 in post process and saved as “read only” . Gonna change the fringe and sharpen back
To 1 and untick as “read only “ see if that fixed it . Using dx12 & frame gen .

This worked for me, thanks!

Will give that a try and give an update.

I can confirm that this works. turning on motion blur to low fixes the flickering issue.

i cant stand motion blur - but it does stop the flashing. Its a work around till the issue is fixed.

I suddenly had this white flashing issue pop up for me a couple days ago…Tried a lot of things until finding this thread. Great tip for turning Bloom off, however after that I remembered that I had recently adjusted my UserCfg. I immediately went back and changed back the Post Processing settings I had turned off (Sharpening, Fringe, Vignette). I was then able to turn Bloom back on. The Post Processing in the UserCfg definitely had some connection to Bloom and how it was being rendered causing the issue for me.

Hey, I’m glad I found this thread, I’ve been having this same issue since last week or so and was actually looking around for a solution. I must say I started having this exact problem since I installed the latest NVIDIA driver (551.86) and never had this issue before. Disabling Bloom did fix the problem which is a workaround but not a solution. Did anyone tried to revert back to an older Nvidia driver to see if it fixes it?
