As the F/A-18 was supposed to be part of the TopGun DLC but was released separately due to delays to the film, I’m placing my bet that its files are going to be protected. I’m hoping I’m wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised.
Yeah maybe but I’m not sure why? I’m guessing the only difference between this version and the version we saw in the Top Gun sim trailer is this plane won’t have Lt Pete Mitchel ‘Maverick’ written under the canopy, as can be seen in the trailer https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/inGVITjCcXQ
I hope that in cockpit showcase camera view comes with it.
it’s very hard to watch when they fly like that…
I did not see him switching to DX12 though, when he changed vsync off the stutters started, and when he switched it back on they stopped.
We may make fun of him, but I bet that’s the way the majority of the people “play the game”. The more of them this sim get’s hooked with avaiation, the better. Jörg did say in a Q&A (again can’t remember the last or the one before) that there are plenty of kids playing. And I bet this guys the vast majority of the audience this guy are kids.
Edit: Yeah, for the volocopter run he actually did turn it on, and can see the stutters with the jet he “flies” afterwards. Shooting for those 60+ fps is not necessarily the best idea, when you can limit it to 30 and make things much smoother.
Are you quite sure it’s still there?
yes unfortunately
I haven’t seen it.
take a look at Dubai and you will notice it
Might have to do with the fact that the place is built on sand? If I have to go the a specific place to see this sepia mask, I don’t think it is a general problem that must be gotten rid of.
This was painful to watch
It’s important to remember that Asobo has repeatedly stated that DX12 support is launching in “Early Access” and that performance improvements are not a guarantee.
Many are wondering how people like the streamer here with relatively low follower numbers are sponsored and get early access to games like MSFS. Let’s look at Twitch as an example, they are selling a product like any other business, subscriptions and people who will see their ads. Twitch employs a fairly large number of “Regional Managers” that work to increase revenue in any given region. Their job is to help existing streamers grow and find new talent that brings in new revenue. One way they do this is by promoting different streams on the Twitch homepage during different time slots, potentially attracting new viewers to said streams. On a platform that sees over 2 million people streaming per month, that potential viewership can make a world of difference.
So when you have a country with a relatively low population, like New Zealand, the numbers overall are just going to be smaller. So if even a fraction of those 4000 followers are dedicated followers, and 100 of them are watching every one of his streams and subscribing month after month, that’s not nothing and can be seen as a potential avenue for growth.
It’s pretty clear by looking at his channel he doesn’t regularly play Flight Simulator, he just got a preview copy from Xbox AZN. It costs them nothing to provide a promotional copy and helps them promote the game. Sometimes, it’s not the numbers that matter, it’s who you know. One of my friends is a streamer, he gets maybe 10-15 views per stream and has 2000 followers, but he went to school with a guy who now works at Bethesda Montreal and gets promotional copies and early access to all their games.
Glad I’ve passed that bar.
Not surprising that the attention is on the F-18, but the Porter is the real star. There isn’t a single inop Switch that I could find, and if you know the Porter, you know it has a lot of switches.
The F-18 is cool and all, but I really want to see the replay feature in action.
Yet, there is no video of Porter
I know, I wanted to make one, but I ran out of time (full flight videos take hours to render >_>). At this point, being only two days away and free for all, may as well savor it on your own when it’s out.
Have you had a chance to test DX12? Does it improve VR in any meaningful way? That is one thing that I am looking forward to the most.
MSFS is giving EA to weird folks! The guys knows s… about MSFS nor sim in general. I don’t get it. What’s the point?
I guess you don’t preach to the choir…
They’re probably trying to get more general xbox / gaming circles interested in it.
Yeah, and it did… something I guess? Nothing that could be measurable with the tools I have. I couldn’t notice a consistent difference so I left it off for now. It is early access, so I’m guessing it may be less stable.
I don’t have a VR headset, so I haven’t tried that.
They likely offered it to a bunch of people, but it’s a busy time of the year, so likely not many bit. I haven’t seen that much coverage besides someone who said that Reno is “utterly terrifying” in a short article that basically just lists its features and talks about the real race in vague terms.
Offering previews in November is always pretty messy from my experience. I’m just happy they were kind enough to offer it to me, and I hope I gave it a good shake
