Early Access GOTY/SU7 Demo on Twitch

I am not sure if this has been posted, but there’s been a 3 hr livestream from twitch giving a close look at the game of the year edition (SU7) as well as Reno Air Race.

Some preliminary observations:

  • Lots of new planes, but nothing really exciting (even F/A-18 seems very basic)
  • DX12 seems to be stable but shows some stuttters that I do not see in DX11, no performance improvement I can see
  • Reno Air Race is what most of us expected, not sure if it’s worth the money
  • The guy doen’t have a clue how the sim works. Not sure how he got the access.

Here it is. MSFS early access demo starts at about 3:31:00.

if only he did a night flight to see if they got rid of sepia mask

Pretty poor that he got early access. There is a ton on here that would give it a lot more justice. I stopped watching as soon as I realised he is just a twitch streamer out for cash.

This sure is a wierd one eh? He’s some sort of Xbox Gamepass ambassador…but only has 4k followers? So, not exactly a big hitter when it comes to “influencers”

Anybody spotted any other pre-launch influencer streams or vids? From abybody with an actual following?

LOL…Did not even notice the 4k followers.LOL… I just could not watch after 3 minutes. The guy seems lost when it comes to MSFS. He should pay me for wasting 3 minutes of my life.

Weird little clip. In terms of influencing he’s doing a terrible job. The F-18 looks quite disappointing from that clip. Maybe we’re all going to spoilt now after flying the Hawk for the last few weeks. Thats the level we all expect fast jets to be at now. The bar is high.

Same guy that got MSFS Xbox early access.

Some people are just lucky…LOL. His channel seems like those pirate sites where you think u going to get a virus or something. Very dark. Anyway, it was too boring to watch. You wonder why he has no followers.

The most interesting part was seeing some of the new menu options and a bit of the F-18 cockpit.

The amount of INOP stuff in the F18 was about what I expected. I figured that it would be more of a fun aircraft.

My hope is that since the F18 will come to all users there will not be any DRM and a community mod will start to add functionality.

Personally I can’t get to into jets flying with a Yoke. I might have to bust out my old Sidewinder Percision 2.

The F/A-18 looks like a blizzard of ‘inop’ but I wasn’t expecting anything else.

I expect this will be modded to within an inch of its life.

Yeah, this could have been such an informative demo, but ended up being a massive diasppointment. I was saddened to see all the shimmer that was introudced with SIM5. It looks like the DX12 version did not solve the issue. What I noticed is a lot less pop-in both in the DX11 and the DX12 run. I have no desire to buy Reno Expansion pack. Rather spend the money on a good study level jet or an airliner.

Thats what makes me more interested in the potential of it. I can’t imagine there will be any DRM with it. Its a relatively old military jet.

Didn’t they say SU7 was mostly going to be bug fixes? I’m not sure.

Also, all of the GOTY stuff is free, so if you don’t want Reno: just don’t buy it?

Weird I didnt see any shimmers at all. Have you seen this article from cnet

Its for HDTV’s but alot of what is in there works on monitors as well. Give it a try and see if you can eliminate the ‘shimmers’ with the suggestions posted there.

SU8 in Feb 2022 will be an all bug fix update. At least that’s what their intention is. No new features. Just trying to clear out some of this bug debt they’ve accumulated.

Why would this affect it having DRM? The Junkers is from the 30s and it’s DRM locked.

Yeah because its a paid add on. Similarly we can’t mod planes that only come with the premium and premium delux versions of the sim.

Maybe McDonnell Douglas don’t want the F18 tampered with by modders so it’ll be DRM’d but I’d be surprised.

If this were the real world, they’d be bug bankrupt by now.

Being a free plane then perhaps it won’t be locked. That would be ideal. I was just pointing out that the fact it’s an “old” plane has nothing to do with it being DLC protected or not.

I’m hoping they get rid of the DLC on the aircraft.cfg. They can still copy protect it like Jorg was saying while unlocking that one file to get modders work on it.

Yeah sorry I wasn’t being clear. I was alluding more to the fact that some aircraft manufactures don’t want their planes tampered with by modders. That would seem less likely with older aircraft.
