I still have my Precision 2 as well! I’ve used it for FS2000, 2002, 2004, X-Plane 5, 6, and 7, FSX, as well as the current FS. And what excites me the most about the Hornet is that Asobo is finally officially supporting afterburners and supersonic speeds, without the third party developers having to figure out their own workarounds any more.
I’m really surprised how many people seem to be looking forward to military jets in MSFS. Even if the flight model was somewhat ok, any real military sim enthusiast would ask after “gear up”, where is my target, and what ammunition do I have to destroy it. How do I avoid or defeat other air threats? That will never be part of MSFS.
But, if you are happy to take off, fly some aileron rolls and loops, and land, go knock yourself out.
Some military enthusiasts can’t afford 1000 dollar PCs and already have a series X or S handy msfs is good enough for me I fly nothing but military aircraft anyways
You know, the DCS uber alles crowd have been chiming into every MSFS miljet thread in the Third Party Add-ons forum for many months - the F22 thread, the F-15 thread, the F-14 thread, the Hawk thread …
You just go on back to DCS and leave everyone else alone to have fun how THEY like, not what YOU THINK they should like.
It’s too bad – I remember back in FS4.0 you could pew pew in the Sopwith Camel. Maybe they don’t want us bombing each others houses in MSFS? The potential for war gaming on real maps is incredible, but maybe that would bring unwanted heat on MS/Asobo? I’m sure everyone remembers what happened to the ArmA guys in Greece (imprisoned under suspicion of espionage for doing some location research).
I’m guessing the point is to approach a new audience.
The hardcore simmers watching hardcore simming channels are already very much aware of MSFS, so they’re not likely to reach any new audience through those channels.
That’s probably true but the simmers are the people giving the cash. Gamers just need any kind of scrap plane to fly from A to B or to crash somewhere. So in the long term they should focus on the simmer channels.
actually they weren’t even doing research, the game was more or less complete at that point. they were on vacation.
Flight Simulator never really had a huge emphasis on war gaming. You’re probably right about not wanting negative attention however the game (and the series) has always had non-military planes as it’s primary focus. I’m not saying these games are not allowed to have military jets but beggars can’t be choosers, especially when there are other games who’s designated purpose is to provide high-fidelity military aircraft for people like you and me to fly around and blow up our friends with.
If one desires shooty boom boom abilities when they’re flying, they should seek games where that is the overarching theme like War Thunder, DCS and IL2.
And honestly, it doesn’t matter what they add into the game, people (like those complaining about the lack of fidelity of a certain plane) will always find something new to complain about. They could add/fix everything on the bugtracker/wishlist tomorrow and yet there will be at least one person that will complain it’s not enough
My Sidewinder has seen better days. Its got a good amount of play in the X and Y axis. I may take it apart to see if I can bring it back to life a bit.
Maybe when the HC TF comes out I’ll look at it and the competition for a flight stick.
Back then, there was no internet and they didn’t have to block potential features to maintain a G-rating.
I think there are non-warfare uses to military purpose aircraft.
Another level of flight training (precision, flying angles instead of speeds, etc) and…
I personally am very excited for a US Navy Blue Angel repaint.
You know the real difference is that civ planes are well civil, but strap on a fighter jet etc and its the equivalent of driving a sports car. Blowin stuff up is a plus LOL !!!
OMG!
It seems the white dot is still there after SU7.
Very painful to watch . Can’t believe they let this guy demonstrate this . Unprofessional and certainly not the character I would want to have showing the sim this way .
Yeah I absolutely love and have a blast with DCS myself, just love blowing me some good stuff up in the Hornet. But I also love MSFS 2020 for what it offers, they both are great and a compliment to any serious fight simmer’s library.
Thank you. This is the kind of constructive reply I was looking for.
MSFS is targeting everyone Including those who are clueless about aviation.
And that’s a good thing.
Of course we’re not the target audience of streamers like that. They don’t need to come to us because we follow them everywhere they go. It’s quite reasonable for them to use streamers to reach other people.
In fact, I think most of us were pretty clueless about aviation until a “serious” flight simulation game started changing this, and look what a bunch of knowitalls we have become!
Made my day
