Eindhoven Airport (EHEH) missing

The Netherlands’ second airport with pre-Covid-19 some 6M passengers and used for civilan and military traffic. Regrettably missing in FS2020 for the moment.

Nice spot Bert. I raised this as a bug last week with MS and I got a lame response - something along the lines of ‘Discreet upgrades and region updates, blah blah blah’. I told them that’s proper BS and that they should fix it as it is a bug. The TACAN station is there as are some of the buildings. I don’t know what those testers where doing all this time. Probably too busy making Youtube videos

After writing my post, I noticed the post about freeware Eindhoeven Airport elsewhere on the forum.
Link: [Freeware] Eindhoven Airport - EHEH (WIP)

Haven’t figured out yet how to install third party software and if it is very different from FSX and before.

ALL military bases in NL are not displayed… go look at soesterberg , they hid it..

Well, for a military (almost) only airport I can understand. But Eindhoven is really a disappoitment if out.
I am not near my system so cannot check but assume that Pisa airport in Italy is also out then?

Ps to all, please vote to get this on the list, thanks!

Non-Displayed Airport, can’t say anything more.

Those dutch alphatesters reported it already from the start of alpha 1! I think those airports (there are more missing in other countries too) dissapeared in a kind of Bermuda triangle!!!

i used to work at NL bases , i flew over each location , they not there , gilze still has the landing lights on the floor texture , hehe whole base transformed into farm land with lots of buildings…

That sounds like it is not an error, but by design. I’m willing to bet some request has been made, which they are honouring, to remove those airports. I can’t think why. National security perhaps?

But then there is that old adage about never attributing to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

This is Eindhoven airport on Bing Maps. It was ordered that all (partial) military airports are hidden in Bing maps. Apparently Google had better deals negotiated

Not much to be done about, apart from making it yourself or waiting for a 3rd party to release it (or hoping Bing at some point allows military airports in the Netherlands).

In Germany there are lots of military airports in, like Ramstein, Germany

Not all military airports are missing only in some countries (for example some in the Netherlands, France, some in Germany (didn’t check all of them in all these countries).
Other countries are not so strict (USA for example)

No true, sorry.. “in the Netherlands” needed to be behind that sentence
Basically it depends on which airports Bing has blurred. Easy as that. You can check yourself with the “Maps” app on your PC

I’ve not visited them in the sim yet, but many sensitive bases are not hidden in the UK, in Bing at least.

Download the zip file containing the scenery files and then extract it so you get a normal folder of the mod’s name. Simply move this folder directly into your community folder.

Finding the community folder:

  • If you have installed the MSFS contents in a custom folder, go in to that location, and simply drag and drop the folder into your Microsoft Flight Simulator “Community” folder
  • If you have bought it from the Microsoft Store Go to %localappdata% (search using windows search), then go to Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_RANDOMLETTERS\LocalCache\Packages\ and place “airport-eheh-eindhoven” into the Community folder
  • If you have the game through Gamepass Go to %localappdata% (search using windows search), then go to Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_RANDOMLETTERS\LocalCache\Packages\ and place “airport-eheh-eindhoven” into the Community folder
  • If you bought the game on Steam… Go to %appdata% (search using windows search), then Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\ and place “airport-eheh-eindhoven” into the Community folder
    • Alternate Steam Method (If Above Does Not Work)… Go to %localappdata% (search using windows search), then got to Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_RANDOMLETTERS\LocalCache\Packages\ and place “airport-eheh-eindhoven” into the Community folder
    • Alternate Steam Method (If Above Does Not Work)… Go to YOUR_STEAM_LOCATION\steamapps\common\ and place “airport-eheh-eindhoven” into the Community folder

For example, I have the steam version but during setup (in-game) when it asked me where to install the packages I picked “E:\Game\MSFS” so my community folder is at “E:\Game\MSFS\Community”. The total path of the mod is then "E:\Game\MSFS\Community\airport-eheh-eindhoven".

Thanks a very, very lot @Ocgineer, very kind of you!

In Germany the big airport Stuttgart is completly missing, because there is an US-Base on it.

Eindhoven… love that town. My employer is in Veldhoven. Can’t miss the giant black tower @ the A2/A67 intersection.

In Landscape Mode airports like Eindhoven and Stuttgart (but not Pisa) are blurred.

However in Map-mode in Bing they are simply visible.

So one wonders if there are different classes of military use, some more likely to be hidden than others.

It is quite irritating in any case, all the more because hiding them in Bing landscape mode does not have any effect since the relevant info is available in map mode and also in Google Earth/Maps in the public domain anyway.

It looks more and more like someone made a mistake at Bing, some years ago…

There is at least one airport in Sweden that is a FORMER military (F16 in Uppsala, disbanded in 2003), it’s just gone from the map. Interestingly enough, there are other (military) airports in Sweden that are available.

This makes me think that the whole thing about “scrubbing airports” is rather inconsistent.

Curious… Eindhoven airport EHEH is missing in FS2020… not on the map, not in the sim.
Presumably because this is - legally speaking - a military airfield with civilian co-use.
