Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

The terrain spikes are seen throughout the Saanich peninsula. They high parts seem to correspond with small bodies of water such as lakes and creeks but that may not be 100% the issue.

First noticed with WU11 but may have started with SU10. These were not there with SU9.

I believe that this was a “gift” that came along with WU11. I’ve sent a bug report along to Zendesk. In the interim, there is a temp fix over on flightsim.to that seems to eliminate the problem.

Just wait until @RomanDesign releases his CYYJ!!!

It’s a water flattening bug. The sim had code to “flatten” the water around the shorelines. The code must be reading those areas as very small oceans? Should be an easy fix. They fixed similar terrain issues in SU10, but yes, this did come with the SU11 beta.

I’ll take a look at these when I work on elevation data. Elevation problems are very comon, things seem to change between releases and the same terrain sometimes looks very different when scenery is interacting with it…

Here’s a rather long and tedious video I made for Zendesk. It does however point out the many anomalies that cropped up with WU11.

Roman…look forward to your work on this, but really think Asobo should fix this.
Cheers.

Still present in the latest beta 1.29.29.0

Surprised there aren’t more votes for this issue.

I noticed these issues right after World Update Canada landed so it doesn’t seem to be caused by SU11 to me, but what caused it isn’t important, this is one of my favorite areas to fly so would love to see it fixed.

I had them on a new, clean install of SU11 before AND after the Canada world update, and they remain in the current Beta. I just finished rebuilding and joining the Beta today. They fixed some elevation issues around CYYJ during SU11 beta, but these are new.

Before last update, Canada, Riviere Saint Maurice, and also on Alma Riviere La grande there is an hole on water…and the plane falled down this hole…. Without bing data, no problems.

Still present in 1.29.30.0.

I dropped my TLOD down to 10, and these glitches pop up and disappear with the TLOD distance.

Are these issues ever going to get fixed?

I was too busy with the release as it was taking forever. I finally released my CYYJ today. Is this issue still present? The elevation often goes crazy in Scenery Editor mode, so I wasn’t sure what were just normal glitches and what was this, and haven’t had the time to really investigate.

I’m reluctant to fix MSFS bugs, as the fix can backfire in the future MSFS update. However, if this issue is still present I will take a look and flatten those areas in the next update. I’m sure there will be some small things to fix here and there, so I will release one soon anyway. But I’d like to know if everyone is seeing the same thing before I attempt the fix. I will only try if it’s consistent for everyone and Asobo has not fixed that issue yet. It may not be compatible with the fix available elsewhere though…

Let me know what you think.

If anyone made a map of those issues around CYYJ - let me know so I won’t miss anything.

It’s worse than ever now. Lakes on top of hills. They sometimes look normal until you get close. Then they pop up.

Oh, my… OK, I will try to flatten those elevated lakes in the vicinity of the airport. This will come as an update very soon, together with a few other minor fixes.

The anomalies in question were a gift that came with WU12. Shortly after WU12 came out, I came across a “fix” on .to that eliminates the problem for the most part ie. all the volcanoes on the Saanich peninsula are gone. I looked today, but can’t seem to find them on .to right now.

The file names are: planeguy04-bc-pt2 / planeguy04-bc-pt4 / planeguy04-vc-island-full

I haven’t downloaded the airport yet (waiting for MarketPlace). Maybe if someone else has these files AND the airport, they could try them out together to see if it’s maybe a simple solution for now.
