Elevator Trim Axis inverted for some aircrafts (still after SU2)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

“Elevator Trim Axis” control is inverted between several aircraft - impossible to assign a single control profile to all aicrafts with the same trim control behavior.

This is a repost of a previous bug report (Trim inverted in some aircrafts - #9 by INoooch) which has been closed because the issue has been said to be fixed in SU2… which is not!

This bug is significantly downgrading the user experience while switching between several aircraft (typically in career mode): one will regularly end in the ground typically at takeoff and the only possible workaround would be to define and maintain two parallel versions of one’s control profiles which is really time-consuming for nothing.

Assuming the control profile has been set and tested with the Cessna 172, the trim axis is inverted for at least the following aircraft:

  • Draco X
  • Air tractor AT-802
  • F/A-18E
  • Extra 330 LT
  • Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros
  • (list non-exaustive, completing progressively…)

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Non-applicable: I am not using any mod/addon.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Always for involved aircraft (involved aircraft always have their trim control inverted, the other never have this issue), this is clearly an issue in the way the pitch trim axis control is interpreted by each aircraft.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Configure the “Elevator Trim Axis” control (not talking about button controls, not talking about the other trim controls) for the Cessna 172 Skyhawk in your aircraft control profile
  2. Start any flight with say the Draco X with the same aircraft control profile
  3. Notice that the Elevator Trim Axis control behavior is inverted between the Draco X and the Cessna 172 Skyhawk (probably by ending your flight prematurely in the ground while attempting to trim right after takeoff)

No.

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

Nvidia RTX 2070 super

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

Very frustrating, when will this be fixed in 2024 please?
No problems in 2020.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes. I use Authentikit and vJoy to improve the response of the Bravo trim wheel, as explained in this video. in the Piper PA-28 Dakota the behaviour of the buttons is inverted. If I change the mapping in the Authentikit profile it works fine.

• This happens also in the Black Square Starship. I reported it and Nick Cygansky said it was caused by a wrong interpretation of the canard, but now I see that it happens in other planes, though I have only experimented it in the Dakota.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Here is a bizarre one: On the Longitude, what is inverted is fast vs. slow. Meaning if you turn a dial like the multi knob on, for example, the Bravo slowly, the numbers change quickly in sim. If you turn the dial fast, the numbers change slowly. Has been this way since SU2

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Lots of default aircraft have this issue. I’m using the trim wheel on the Thrustmaster TWCS throttle.

Thanks for the heads up for those of you who believe this issue may not be resolved. We’ll forward this for investigation to the development team!

Thanks again

The new PA-28 Dakota is inverted as well.

Yes, it’s one of them.

• Same problem in the recently updated CRJ series by Aerosoft

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Same problem for the Carenado B55

Reported on many other planes 2020 + 2024 here :

Still persists. I get tired of constantly turning invert on or off depending on what airplane I’m in. Seems that all caranedo aircraft are the opposite to default Cessna axis.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• seems to be all Carenado aircraft are opposite elevator trim which must be inverted so you are not spinning the trim wheel in the wrong direction.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Its not just Carenado aircraft.
