Error code: (0x80070102) as I try to install on my PC

I am trying to install MSFS on a second PC. I was able to download the 1.6 (or so) GB from the MS Store but the PC will crash to desktop as I continue from there and try to install the entire game. I select MSFS 2020 from the list of available application, right-click, select ‘Run as Administrator’, then I get to the Asobo screen but once I get on the next screen the application crashed to desktop. After too many tries, I saw this error (“Error code: (0x80070102) - Something went wrong launching your game”.). What is this Error?

It could be a lot of things but I’m thinking you may need to relax your privacy settings to allow Microsoft to acces your system data so it can synchronise with your MS account. Also make sure Windows, Xbox etc. are all up to date on both machines. Some of us occasionally display the error in the beta but it launches the game without problems anyway.

Moved to #self-service:install-performance-graphics which is more appropriate :+1:

Funny how no one in that entire thread reported it was fixed

may be because we hope users jump into existing discussion with the exact same error message

As example here we have a post, where simingly a mod caused that ( strange ):

I assume more its again somewhat with gameing-service stuff or these " select ‘Run as Administrator’ , " - and so right-stuff , buts a guess

Hey Blitzer, thanks for the tip. Apparently, what I was missing was just the “XBox Gaming Services” app (I cannot even remember installing that on my other PC)… let’s hope that the install completes with no further issues but, for now, MSFS 2020 is installing. I thought there was a piece missing to allow me to move forward with the installation, I just wasn’t sure which piece. Take care.

xbox-app, thought its per default installed…

MSFS is a xbox-world-game ( yes, so hard it sounds for simmers  ) and the login, etc. is done with help of that app.

And About the gaming-services a question: have you the subscription version ? These needs the gaming-services. I’am intressted whether this is in meanwhile also necessary for the non-subscription version.

I do not subscribe / pay for Xbox, never have, absolutely not! The only reason I am literally “forced” to even look at the Xbox app is MSFS 2020. And I agree, one would think that MS would allow a customer to download what’s needed automatically and not jump thru all these unnecessary hoops, particularly for PC users who could care less about the Xbox. Everything should just synch, as it did on the other PC, instead of this guessing game…

yep… all that preconditions confuse lots of users. So, gaming-services are now also necessary for the “normal” MS-Store version ( not subsription ). It is still not necessary for steam users, and I’am so happy about that  ( the xbox-app we need in each case , just for xbox-net )

Yes, agreed. Lol… It is what it is. I am just glad the simulator is downloading.

No problem. Hope it gets you sorted and back to flying soon. :+1:

I was in MSFS last night in my new PC… all was okay in my first flight. Along the way I adjusted my time-clock and to do so I had to put the “Set time automatically” to off. The game started complaining about being offline or something but clearly I was not as I could still go online to Google and stuff.

Next morning, when I start MSFS again, I had this problem… thinking it was a mod issue, I uninstalled everything including MSFS, and now I could not even restart to install… same error as above.

I tried to reverse my steps and remembered about the clock and just turned ON the “Set time automatically” in the “Adjust Date and Time”… I am now in the start of a few hours of installation again for MSFS not seeing the above error… hopefully my problem is gone and hope this might help each move forward also… Good luck!
