Error code 0x87e00017

Hey folks,

I reached 100% download of MSFS 2024 but it gives me this error code and won’t continue installing. I have already tried rebooting my PC and canceling/restarting the install but it doesn’t work. Any solutions or is it just part of the long wait times?

I got this error last night and a reboot of my xbox solved this issue.

Checking XBox Status:


It’s been this way for roughly six hours now, at least that’s when my download was done and refused to install. I don’t know when the XBox status message first stated “We’re close to resolving the issue”, however. It’s been at least an hour since I first noticed it.

I’ve signed up to be notified by text (an option on the above screen) but the night is nearly over for me. Oh well, guess I was able to download and uncompress the download today, just wouldn’t go any farther. Disappointing as I was hoping to give it a try on day 1.

Update: (About 2 hrs, 45 mins later). XBox Status is now “All services up and running”!! However, I still get the error!!

Update: (About 30 mins more) In Microsoft Store App, get the following message: Exception from HRESULT 0x87E00017 with details "Sorry about that! Something went wrong. We’re aware of the issue and working to fix it. Try refreshing or come back later. Code 0x87e00017. Guess I’ll try again tomorrow as I’ve refreshed several times already without success.

Still getting the error as well. All services are running but still getting the same error this morning. Stuck at 100%

As pointed above, tried downoloading it via the store app and it says something happened on our end. Guess there’s nothing we can do until they fix it. Hopefully they can fix this issue soon.

Just tried it again this morning and got the same error, the same experience as you. Looking over the possible solutions, I guess an uninstall and reinstall might fix it, but it takes so long. I might try it in a couple hours if nothing changes.

Feel free to try it, but I think the issue is on Microsoft’s side.

Oh, great. I decided to uninstall and reinstall, so mine is at 15% now. Guess I was too impatient. Good to hear you’re having success. Oh well, I have other things to get done this morning before “playing”. Hope your sim experience is a good one going forward!

Dang. Once I go to work and can’t access my PC lol

If that error code persists, as said above, you have to keep waiting. Nothing we can do on our side, the issue is on Microsoft’s side. Eventually they will let you in.

I take it back. I was loaded into MSFS 2020. Reloaded MSFS2024 and still the same error code. Darn. I was excited there for a minute. Sorry to get hopes up.

Alright, I’m in for real this time. Microsoft fixed the issue I think! :slight_smile:

It has installed but it crashes as soon as I start up the sim. It crashes at the very beginning every time.

Alas, no dice today. It will CTD anywhere from instant startup to 15% install activating packages max.

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have a chance. But at least I got through the initial game install.

Thought I had reported here this morning, about 12 hours ago. I had uninstalled and reinstalled the sim. The install went faster than yesterday’s. It got through the entire process and the sim ran with no CTDs, in fact it did quite well. Did a couple very short flights and another tonight. Now have a lot more set up to do.

The scenery detail is impressive! Lot to learn about the new sim!
