I|'ve been having this too for about 5 weeks. First on an older PC (3770K cpu, Windows 10, 32Gb ram, 3060ti). I then updated the Mboard and cpu to Asus z790, Intel 14900k, 32Gb ddr5, Windows 11 but same 3060 ti. If anything it is worse on this newer PC. Seems to possibly be made worse by running other apps on a second monitor (plugged into the internal HDMI port, not the 3060 to).

I used to run both monitors from the 3060. Moving the second screen to internal hdmi hasnt really helped.

So thats new fresh Windows install and new fresh MSFS install onto an almost new PC.

One message implied memory shortage but when it last crashed, memory used was about 14.9G or 32g used.

So, updated today with the small update, and now I cannot make any changes in my general settings without the dx12 graphics error. I can’t even change my sim to full screen from windowed… what the hell.

It looks like making any graphical changes in the sim now with DX12 enabled causes crashes - is anyone else seeing this? Any fixes?

Also having this issue as well when changing any settings

WIN11 fresh install today. Fresh install of the game. Cannot even get into the game, it crashes with this error after the splash screen.

Fixed it! Reinstalled Nvidia drivers from Game Ready to Studio.

does this include the new driver release from today? Its driving me absolutely mad since the game starts in windowed mode now for some reason, and doing alt-enter, or attempting to change any graphical settings just results in the device hung error… its so infuriating that the game is STILL having basic and core issues like this nearly 4 years on…

Yesterday everything was working properly, today the simulator starts in full screen mode, then the updates page appears for about 1 second and the simulator goes to window mode, after that when I go to the options to be able to reset the full screen mode I always have this error.

I have already tried installing the previous drivers, reinstalling the current ones but there is nothing to do

yep, essentially cannot play in full screen anymore at this point - adjusting any graphical settings in DX12 results in immediate CTD, using alt-enter to go into fullscreen results in CTD. Man, it is always something with this sim… brutal

I just have the same right now :frowning:

Edit: I do not have enabled RTX Dynamic Vibrance
I’m on last nVidia driver and nVidia beta App

I sorted this problem not going to option setting but just pressing Alt+Enter to back to full screen.

Even using alt-enter now results in a CTD most of the time… The menus seem to have gotten insanely volatile recently, not sure why…

This worked for me too. Thanks for posting this solution.

Hello,
Thank you in me it worked and I was able to fly for a while. Unfortunately I can see a drop in frame rate to about 43 and I had a steady under 100 frames before.
I am using 3 monitors each 2K plus an additional panorama monitor over hdmi on Air Manager hardware. Geforce 4080 card, INTEL 13th processor a lot of ram etc. hardware all agree.
Unfortunately it has been impossible to play for some time now because it gives this error every time after the latest Asobo and MICROSOFT updates, I have uploaded old drivers and still the same problems.
I am waiting for a stable driver !!!

Hello, the problem occurs all the time with no change. Yesterday I was flying on STUDIO drivers and it was crashing me. Also I reinstalled the drivers on GAME and also after a while it would kick me out and the game would crash.
I’ve FINALLY lost the will to continue playing MSFS 2020, every time changes, update you have to download and new problems appear. I invested in the game by buying a lot of add-ons, etc. and I can’t play it. WHEN can we expect a solution to the problem ? Please give me information and advice on how to solve it ?

Before today, I had not this issue.
This week, I updated my bios so that I could upgrade the CPU from 5600x to 5800x3d. I’m on the default settings in the bios so there is no overclock or anything.
And now, for each flight, after a few minutes, I get the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error…

Trying now a flight with TdrLevel set to 0 in registry. So far, so good.

I also get this message

So I uploaded new GPU Driver and still same message but with out now GPU driver change suggestion.
I Never had issue with MSF2020 but since last update msfs started everytime in window mode even when I change to full screen and then apply and saved settings still did it.
On my case first msfs started on window mode
Then I saw some blue shine dots appear now and then changing colors on main menu with some random colour flashing and then them two messages and now every time when I started msfs I got this message I also reinstal windows and msfs from scratch and still the same I do not konw what causing it
My hardware is Lenovo laptop I5-12500H with RTX 3060 140w 6GB and 32 GB RAM

The windowed mode is a well known separate issue that has now been corrected and is already available to those enrolled in the Beta program.
It will be released to the rest of us with SU15.
