Excessive amount of trees (2024 trees are even more excessive than 2020)

I don’t really care how unreal it looks, but it can’t be helping performance to have to render all those additional unnecessary items. I’d like to see them tone it down for performance reasons if nothing else.

Why why why are the tress even worse the 2020? They pop up in runways , are 50% more than real life.

In career mode they cover up banner collections areas, in helicopter rescues you can’t complete them as there is no where to land !

• Flew Haifa Israel to Jerusalem Israel in December 2024, there are way, way too many trees. Israel is mostly desert and agricultural fields, with some small trees on the sides of certain hills in the north, but MSFS2024 has every hill in the country covered in trees - big deciduous trees with their luscious green leaves still attached. Too many trees, trees too large, with leaves still attached in winter - all spoil the VFR visuals. I fly Cabri G2 VFR dead-reckoning at 500’ AGL and use fields and treed areas for reference approaching small airports. This is more difficult even than MSFS2020.

The issue is that to me, it looks like tree generation does not follow satellite recognition of trees from images. It looks like they did an algorythm that disseminate trees based on geographic features. It’s easy to see where you can clearly see trees from satellite imagery in spots, with no generated tree on top.

So far, no IA treatment of satellite imagery to generate trees.

So annoying and worse than 2020 because they dumped BlackShark AI…

I confirm the problem and want to add two locations where the algorithm interprets lava fields as woods: Tenerife, specifically the Teide caldera, and Lanzarote.

N 28.26144, W 16.63726
Mt. Teide, Tenerife, is a volcano. Its slopes are barren in reality:
no pic due to embedding limitations

N 28.22778, W 16.69096
The wood in the background is a lava field in reality, the green structure extending toward the foreground is also lava.
no pic due to embedding limitations

N 28.25585, W 16.60536
The caldera is completely barren in reality.
no pic due to embedding limitations

N 28.99344, W 13.69909
Lanzarote: What appears as heavily wooded area is black lava soil in reality.

Yes, and at most runways some ideologically green people planted trees at the end of many runways 20 years ago and here we are trying to not run into them on final.

Nobody noticed this on release? Where do planes land is the place with trees? I’ve even seen them on runways.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

I’m willing to help more for a small consulting fee.

Many areas in the Middle East are loaded with trees which simply are not there in real life. Lebanon looked much more to real life in 2020 than 2024.

Found a nice little forest on the beach of and in the water of the Solent between Southampton and Bournemouth.

Very pretty I thought…as well as being incompetent, slapdash and a great example of auto-generative error in a half-baked alpha, early-access program.

Is there a bugged logged topic on the photogrammetry that is totally messed up in areas heavy on trees ?

Do I need to create a new topic for that ?

This is unacceptable regression vs FS2020 that is fine in those areas…

This is Bilbao, but same in several areas. Another example is Hobart in Tasmania…

The worst part about this for me is the many trees that are generated within airport boundaries, next to runways and between taxiways. This occurs at many airports. IRL most airports are devoid of trees for safety reasons.

My broblem with trees not because the landscape looks unrealistic but because they are too close to an airfield. And if a runaway is short it might be very hard not to crush on a tree while landing.
Also agroculture missions are unplayable because of this. All fields are surrounded by the trees like fence. I wonder how that passed a playtest.

SEASONS ENHANCED BY BIJAN MSFS24 1.6 helps with a lot of these problems (not everywhere) and it is constantly evolving …

Hi,

I `ve been flying over African Central Sahara Desert in MSFS2020.
On Google Maps, Bing Maps as Apple Maps are no trees, lakes and rivers at all, as in real life.

I had a big surprise in MSFS2020: Trees, Lakes, Rivers…, and not just a few.

It does while it messes up other areas that were perfectly done! I’d rather Asobo just tweak the trees at this point.

The same in Jordan, Syria, Greenland etc. The “trees” there are not more than shrubs, bushes

Yesterday I gave it a go on that one and purchased it. Installed correctly, empty cache, restart…

No it makes looking Utah looking really bad, and! in my area where I am living things are still nice and green, seems to be that here is only golfers around the place.

No this did not work for me, eventually Ok for Skandinavia an others, but my area surely nope.

I love flying over the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. However, in reality there are virtually no trees at all but in FS2024 there are forests in places and trees scattered everywhere, even on the odd sandbank. It completely ruins the experience. I also tried following the scenic railway line from Lancaster to Carlisle, which I used to do in FS2020. In FS2024, the railyway is not visible most of the time as it is covered in trees. I would not like to be the train driver!

absolutely.

I live in a remote area of Andalucia in the mountains, I flew over my house, it looked like I live in a forest ! … when in reality, there’s very few trees here, its quite sparse.

that said, I think the issue may be the size/type of trees used (as well as quantity?)

in this area, its mainly almond and olive farms, these trees are all pretty small (and pruned). but in msfs these all appear to be large, oak/pine trees. so they are oversized, to the point of appearing like a dense forest, rather than the sparse population that it is.
… and its the same everywhere in the area.
