Excessive lighting at night still not fixed

Not a good solution, but depending on where your priorities are, these issues are 100% caused by 2020 sceneries enabled in 2024. Disable them, and these blown out night lighting POIs will go away.

No it isn’t. I’ve tested this already. 0 add Ons.

And it wasn’t like this before SU2.

Several of the POIs in your screenshots are from the Point of Interest packages from the default World Updates which are [drum roll please] 2020-native, not 2024-native.

For example: disable this, and MetLife stadium will return to normal lighting (though the custom model will also disappear in lieu of something autogen)

True. but the point is it’s their own world update, not third party add on. Without it , might as well go back to MSFS 2020 or an earlier version because 2020 will look much better than 2024. It’s ridiculous.

I thought we would be moving forward with 2024.

And as I said. It wasn’t like this prior to SU2.

I understand, and as I said, this isn’t a great solution, but if you want the lighting issue to go away right now, I’ve provided you an option.

Appreciate :+1:t3: it.

But that is not an option for me. If I have to disable world updates I might as well go back to MSFS 2020.

I think most would.

Theoretically you only need to disable the Points of Interest items but the rest of the World Updates would remain. And I don’t know if I follow the ā€œgo back to 2020ā€ logic as the part you’re disabling is the same as 2020, so it’s not offering you any advantage over 2020 right now.

No . 2020 does not present these light issues. It looks fantastic so at least in night time flying it would be an improvement as it relates to this particular issue.

I’ll just wait till they fix this hopefully in the next update. It’s impossible to ignore.

Thank for the advice. I’ll be flying msfs 2024 during daytime and 2020 for night flights unfortunately for now.

Wasn’t suggesting that 2020 does have these lighting issues - just when these 2020 elements are used in the current build of 2024.

I refused to give up on 2024 and can reaffirm that the excessive light issues on POI come from the world update 2020.incompatibiliy with 2024.

Disabling this will not show the lights but neither the world update. So it’s a lose lose situation.

I thought you didn’t need to apply the world updates from 2020 to 2024. I assumed, maybe wrongly, that all the world updates prior to release were incorporated in the base release. Maybe I’m wrong?

EDIT: obviously this doesn’t apply to World Update XIX released after 2024’s release and is 2024 native

The World Updates exist but as streamed packages that can be enabled or disabled in My Library just like any other addon. The difference vs 2020 is that you don’t need to download tens (or over time, hundreds) of gigabytes of World Updates to have everything.

The ā€œ2024ā€ World Update packages contain un-updated 2020 ā€œPoint of Interestsā€ assets that have lighting that’s incompatible with SU2 2024 (and beyond, so far).

Please fix this ASAP, it’s shameful. I can’t believe no one at Asobo flies at night without noticing this horrible lighting on points of interest. I especially refuse to believe that the development team finds it beautiful. If I worked for them, I would fight tooth and nail to fix this. I’m going to talk about it with every update, I’m going to be really annoying. I know this post already exists, but I’ll create a new one with every update.

I’m sure they will ā€œfixā€ this. The question is when ???

What bothers me is that it’s so obvious and in your face that I don’t understand how it hasn’t been fixed yet.

It currently ruins night flying over most poi’s on world updates.

It makes me not wanna fly at night because it loses realism and it degrades performance.

I agree, this is awful, should be fixed ASAP.

Even aircraft lighting are horrible(for both default as well as PMDG,iFly ,Fenix etc ).No proper beacon and strobes too dim when compared to 2020.Volumetric light effect when passing through dense clouds are horrible but in 2020 its realistic.Airport lightings are too bright and looks like light orbs placed on taxiways and runway. No bloom feature in 2024.What have they done to say its an improved version of 2020?2020 is far way better when compared to their new sim ,very much true.

I went for a flight last night in my local area and noticed a POI that’s normally blown out (Batman bridge, north of YMLT, Tasmania) looked much better with the latest beta. Not ideal, but better than previous updates .. I know a sample of one doesn’t mean much, but I had hoped that it was a sign this issue had finally gained the Devs attention, but maybe not. :slightly_frowning_face:

Yes, this needs to be fixed before final release.

I think we still need some more betas with optimization.
