Excessive VRAM and RAM usage

Um, no. I linked the entire thread. I didn’t quote your post specifically. The link just defaulted to the last post in the thread.

So the purpose was what exactly? To use me as an example as if I was spreading speculation?

To direct people who may not be aware of it that there’s a very long thread about the same issue in a completely different place in the forum structure. I don’t know why you’re upset about that but apologies I guess?

Nah your alright no need to apologise I got you figured

Folks, lets stay on-topic…

I didn’t want to believe it at first but have now started the test myself and was surprised by the result:

Nvidia app uninstalled, Sim runs smoothly in situations that made it struggle (5-15 FPS).

Now I was even able to increase the settings in the same situation. (EDDF, heavy weather, Fenix 320)

WTF Nvidia?

I dunno - its weird, since uninstalling i haven’t had an issue. Sure VRAM usage is still on the high side but its kept under control.

Hi, after flying for 1-2 hours, I noticed that the used RAM grows up above 40Gb with 32Gb installed. This value was given by the dev mode FPS display, as I was looking for the bottleneck of my PC. Strangely, the task manager was still at 28Gb. No problem on the VRAM, max 16Gb used on the 24Gb of my RX7900XTX.
I also noticed a great difference between the FPS count: 45-50 FPS in the dev mod FPS display, and the adrenaline monitoring 80-90 FPS in flight. Who tells me the truth?
My config
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
XFX RX7900 XTX
32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR 3200MHz
Asus B450 TUF gaming Plus

I think there is a defect with what the sim is displaying. The task manager is correct.

You most likely have frame doubling turned on which the dev mode fps counter will not see.

I have noticed the exact same problem recently with MSFS 2020 too - both RAM and VRAM. I’ll upgrade the pc in the Spring…but I’m nervous of shelling out large coin only to see the same thing happen on the new rig. Will check MSFS 2024 out once things settle down maybe in the summer.

when flying the default R66 or cabri I can stay around 15-18gb in dense areas. the HPG 160 in Sydney harbor…33GB. Luckily I have 64GB but I was shocked at the difference.

Got my additional 32G today so now RAM is at 64G.

Sadly, I am still getting stutters in large airports such as KORD and KSFO.

@1440p your CPU is pretty much perfect. Any higher and you will have issues with that CPU

I am indeed running it at 1440p.

What its related to ?

I had problems at SFO with my 3070ti and had to remove the Community detailed SFO rendering… ran OK with the stock rendering and the Community bridges… you need better bridges…

I’m not sure I follow. What “Community detailed SFO” and what “Community bridges?”

To be clear, the Community folder is for third-party add-ons, not stock, in-sim assets. The stock Golden Gate and Oakland Bay Bridges are quite nice - there’s not really any need to replace them with custom, third-party add-ons. Now, some of the other bridges around the periphery of the Bay area coould use some third-party replacements, but those are much smaller, less intricate bridges to begin with.

I don’t know which version of the sim it comes with, but the Gaya-made handcrafted SFO is not that great - even in 2020 it hinders performance. I personally use Flightbeam’s custom KSFO in both FS2020 and 2024. It performs well for me in both sims, and looks better to boot.

Hi, sorry was a bit cryptic… here are my add ons:

The flightbean airport is beautiful but too much for my 3070… I get 50+ FPS however without it and adding in the bridges does not hurt FPS. The GG and Bay Bridges are OK in the stock program but in the lower part of the Bay you have the San Mateo and Dunbarton Briges which are not really there in 2024. These addons put them in nicely. I have 1500h in Cessnas around here and those bridges are major landmarks for commercial and private flights alike. Those add ons are very much correct.

Thanks for clearing that up. Interesting that Flightbeam’s SFO causes you trouble - I flew there in FS2020 with my 3070 since that scenery was released until I upgraded to my current GPU and it was fine. But admittedly I haven’t tried it with an 8GB card in 2024.

I also have the same “waterfix” mods and the older (freeware) bridges from the same creator (before he repackaged them all and made they payware).

I know this area very well as a local and so it is fun to fly around. Despite the small card MSF2024 runs well now. The rig was not designed for flight simulation but rather for image processing and the graphics card is just there for the CUDA Cores. I do plan to get a 5080 later in the year when I need to replace an old W10 machine. I never even thought of these problems with 2020.
