Extreme crosswinds and wind swings close to the ground on final

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Been experiencing extreme crosswinds (from 30 to 60 Ktns) right before touchdown in almost every flight on live weather.
During final the wind seems Ok, but right before touchdown the direction swivel sometimes 90 degrees to the other side and the speed picks up super fast up to 60 knots (super unrealistic)… always throwing me off the runway.

This issue have been happening no matter the weather condition around the airport.
For example today I had calm winds and sunny day at Barajas, on final my winds were 5 to 7 knts comming from the right side but right before the flare it again swiveled to the other side and went up to 45 knots in seconds.

Provide specific location or coordinates:
Europe any airport any weather condition.

Provide time and date of the observed weather issue:
The past 3 weeks

I’m having the same issue with SU 3 1.5.10.0 on Xbox Series X. I reduced the turbulence in the Assistance menu from Realistic to Medium and that fixed it. But then turbulence everywhere else seems too calm.

Yes the turbulence since .10 is crazy…… it’s completely not realistic. On low it seems much more realistic. I didn’t try it on medium

I’m also on Xbox series x….. and it also occurs on 1.5.12.0….. I was flying a Cessna 172 and it was literally wanting to turn the plane over on final as if my wing was barely hanging on and the verge of a stall. Not a fan :frowning:

I’m not a fan of the serious up and downdrafts that occur with clear skies pretty much every flight. I don’t think thats realistic. I’m on Medium Turbulence now but Im going to try Low. Drastic downdrafts that could bring down an airliner should be a rare thing.

This occurred to me last night at KCOT. Crashed 4 times at on final approach in the Carneado Mooney M20R. There was extreme losses and gains of airspeed on final and went nose down. This was in clear weather. Its been happening to me late into the SU3 beta cycle.

It happens to me in everyflight also in FS2020. I’ve also just reduce Turbulence settings but nothing happen.

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• happens on every flight, at least with Live Weather (which I almost always use). I can compare some of the flights to real world flights in a C172, and can safely tell the turbulence in MSFS2024 have nothing to do with the real thing, being at least 4-5 times stronger (that is, 5 kts behave like 20-25 knots at least).

• l agree. I simply cannot land 90% of the time.

In addition, whilst cruising, the A320 wobbles about alarmingly most of the time.

There seems to be something wrong!

Hi. Any news on getting this fixed please?

Still seems to be an issue, sometimes up to 60knt crosswinds in a few of my recent flights, with no rhyme or reason as to location or METAR.

this is also plaguing low level missions in Career made which makes it very frustrating for new players.

At least in Cargo Transport - Light and Charter Service - Private it should be toned down a bit.

it seems like it was addressed a while back in prior SU and now it is back in spades.

The latest beta, they say they have added realistic mass/inertia for the C172 (both) and Im trying to figure out how much of this issue is due to planes not having proper mass in the CFD calculations. I really dont know but it makes sense to me.

If they did, I don’t notice any difference. I had to dial turbulence back to medium just to keep the 172 manageable.

Yes I am sure that prior to SU3 it wasn’t this bad. It was in SU1 I think then SU2 was fine.

Since SU3 I havent had a decent flight in the 172 and weather is only one reason. In regards to weather my experience has been constant 20kt+ cross and head winds never tail wind unless on take off and ATC assigned runway (Carrer Mode).

These winds are consistent through out the flight and on landing. I have had gusts on approach that simply flipped the plane over(crash) seems to always occur about 1nm from runway at YSBU runway 13.

I have at time noticed during flght headwind gusts have the reverse effect on the plane. The stronger the gust the faster the plane goes and then slows down when wind speed decreases. Tailwind effect from a headwind ???

Weather seems to have regressed bady to me

The 172 seems to have balance issues as well and Im trying to pin down some more thoughts before making an official post about it but it (the G1000 version at least) always pulls to the left even with equal weight in both pilot and passenger seats. You can start adding weight to the passenger side but the only thing I find to help is adding 6 - 8 more gallons of fuel in the right tank. I’m not a real pilot but all that just seems off somehow. The 152 pulls to the right and I counter that with four extra gallons on the left. I don’t think either plane is right. But it does seem to me that the latest C172 version doesn’t get blown around in live weather as much as it used to but I’m still checking. I’d love to get others thoughts on that.

I was just flying over sydney at 1000FT and 14kt from 290 crosswind flipped it on its ear literally instantly. I 'm not a pilot but surely that ain’t how it should be?

To avoid the tendency to roll to the left in the Cessna 172 in MSFS2024, even though it doesn’t have aileron trim, we can use it like if the plane had it.
I never try with the 152.
