You guys are talking about the C172 primarily and I think there is an issue with their latest upgrade since I have been unable to use the upgrade process to download the plane locally. It keeps failing at the install point regardless of if I first uninstall it. In other words, the only way I can use the 172 right now is streamed and if their update is broken, we’re getting an aircraft that is being sent to us in that state. Have others successfully downloaded and installed the latest in SU4?
Thank you so very much! I wasn’t aware of those commands. I’m going to see if they work on both 172 and 152. Awesome!
You’re welcome.
It’s not a beautiful or “real” solution and we have to adjust the trim every time we start a flight, but it makes the experience a bit better.
Regards.
Hey, just a note – Asobo must have added default key commands for those at some time because now its ‘J’ and ‘L’ for left and right aileron trim and it works in both 172 and 152. I’m very happy
.
I love the 152 but I avoided it because of that roll issue but not anymore!
Issue still there. This morning landing in Tokyo… from 2 kt to 31 kt in a few meter… full rudder with any kind of possibility to keep my 320 fenix in the middle of the runway.
I once went into a spin trying to land on a grass strip with like 8 kts of crosswind
This is another thing that is making career mode impossible. It is happening essentially on every flight, always when you are on short final. Line up to land, and bam, huge increase in headwind so you go huge nose up and stall. Or the reverse and you dive with no hope of recovery. Or sudden swings in cross wind destabilizes you and then C172 and C208 are so unstable you will tip instantly.
This should not be happening every single landing I do. It honestly feels like the game is getting progressively worse with each patch adding some new problem.
Same here, lost nearly 1M in insurance because I crashed everytime. Path to final is smooth and calm, then suddenly the wind changes direction and making the plane flip so hard close to the ground that it’s impossible to get it back.
It’s honestly annoying because it’s in every flights I do. (Always live weather). Never experienced this before SU3. I’m flying the cessna grand caravan.
I guess I’ll have to try on predetermined weather to see if it still happens.
I am having this issue even after update 4
Can you describe your reproduction steps?
Attempt to land at any airport in a Cessna 172 with turbulence set to Realistic. About 200’ AGL you will experience extreme buffeting almost severe enough to flip the aircraft.
Same issue too.
I load into a carreer mode transport (medium cargo) mission with the cessna grand caravan. Flying most of the way without issues (although winds are affecting the plane pretty strongly and are somehow inconsistant with huge spikes but not as much as when landing and not as much of an issue) but when it comes to landing, around 1000 to 500 feet above the ground, winds are very erratics and vary so much that the plane is incontrollable. You can have winds going from 50 miles to 2 then back to 57 in a matter of a second. Those winds affect the plane very strongly and make landing near impossible. It’s the cause of most of my crashes in career mode and I can manage to land well on average 1 out of 3 times.
It’s on live weather.
“Realistic” turbulence is too strong. 3rd party devs like FenixSim recommend setting it to “low”.
Maybe have a look at that.
From my experience bug still be there also with low turbulence settings, unfortunatly.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Career medium cargo missions are pretty much unplayable due to the heavy turbulence on approach and crazy wind gusts. I have taken the missions all over the world with very little difference. Extreme everywhere. I wish I could at least change the turbulence to medium or low in career mode.
I suspect this is related to custom weather presets. I used to get this regularly when I ran a copy of Clear Skies. I suspect it’s related to the wind direction and the gust wind direction. I’m not sure it’s related to the gust frequency.
I’m not really familiar with those forums but how does it work when issues are risen? Are they acknowledged or should we wait to see if it is fixed someday?
This thread is marked feedback-logged. That means it’s been communicated to the dev team. I have no idea what happens after that.
Thank you for the answer.
Just had a crash (again) with the grand caravan in career mode while landing.
I was flying at 1/2 sim rate to try to circumvent that issue and be able to have the most reactive input as possible to counter balance the winds. And I was flying with autopilot on for as low as I could.
At like 50 to 100 feet, the plane went in less than a second full left and nose down, impossible to get it back straight even with the stick to the fullest to the right, left wing touched the ground and crashed. I repeat again that I was at 1/2 sim rate!!!
This issue is honestly frustrating to the point I think I won’t be firing msfs again for some time.
I love the career mode as it gives incentives to try new planes, new activities and give a purpose to flying, but where I’m currently at, running medium cargo missions to try to earn money at a decent pace is really not possible. And I don’t want to do 200 flight seeing or passenger transport missions again and again to earn enough to buy another plane.
And I obviously can’t repay the plane back with insurance as I always chose the lowest possible insurance because otherwise, companies don’t earn enough to at least balance the insurance costs.
It really becomes too much of an issue.
