Extreme low FPS at handcrafted airports in VR

Why you don’t opt out from SU3 beta (unless you volunteer to be a tester, to help resolving the bug?).

Overall flying away from airports is ok, coming close is a desaster, 50% loss of fps. I don’t know how accurate the fps counter is when VR is enabled, because 30-35 seem already good to fly, but going down to single digit when entering the airport range is not nice.

I understand your perspective, but I’ve been testing builds across multiple sims for quite some time now. I signed up to contribute specifically to VR development, but I can’t do that BECAUSE the sim becomes unusable once in VR.

As many others in this thread have mentioned, reporting issues is how we help the team identify and solve problems. Unfortunately, this particular issue cuts me off from contributing further, because my flights end within minutes due to unmanageable performance.

I WANT to contribute to SU3 development! (I opted in, after all) downgrading to SU2 doesn’t help me in that aspect.

I use 2020 as my stable platform when I need to fly for my own personal enjoyment. I want to bug test on 2024, but I didn’t expect a game breaking bug to prevent me from finding and hopefully improving all other bugs.

I hope that clarifies my position.

Unfortunately during the development the product-breaking bugs sometimes happen. We are here to help fixing them or to provide reasons for the decision to roll back to the previous build (which is never easy for the devs, as lots of work must be later redone). Working with beta we are testers not customers.

I encourage you to actually read the reply with the intent to understand, not just to prove your point! But thanks for your time and your words.

Thank you for taking the time to make that video. That is what I see as well (7800X3D/4090/W11/G2WMR) even when OLOD and TLOD are turned down to 25 and all traffic at zero.

It is reasonably independent of GPU work load. I can turn down the resolution and fps drop still happens.

2020 DX12 stays solid around 35-45fps. Test airport for me is default RJTT.

Is it with or without Foveated Rendering?
The drop is Huge on that video!

i think it was without…
with foveated rendering the drops are worse.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

The performance in 1.5.9.0 was terrible in VR, then i go back to SU2 and its huge difference.
What i can see your Vram is Full and your graphics card relies on the shared storage.Thats makes it slower. The most addon airports are not flyable on 17-25 FPS.Most graphics cards have too little VRAM anyway, so something needs to happen in this direction. Currently, 16GB Vram is not enough.

Still the same problem in 1.5.10.0. This issue makes serious flying in VR virtually impossible.
This bug really needs to be fixed before official release.

No changes in 1.5.12.0. This easily reproducible VR rendering bug of airport buildings is still present.

and my concern is that they’ll release it this way… The objective for the beta should be fixing the bugs that already exist, but instead there are new bugs emerge in every beta and they fix these, then release it.

this is also my concern, with this bug it is unplayable in vr. 0 communication from devs or someone here who is connected with the devs, if they would at least try to fix the bug. it is really not acceptable. we paid a lot of money for what, for a piece of trash.

Agreed and they REALLY need to fix it. It’s actually much worse than SU2 now. There’s a severe and obvious culling bug.

If Asobo will release SU3 without fixing this bug - you will be right. For now - you are just beta tester, not the customer - you can always opt out from the beta.

This was meant for the release, but seriously how we can test the beta correctly if they dont fix this bug.

It is also in the SU2 release… same bug

Not yet fixed in 1.5.13.0. In fact, it has even gotten worse.

Can you blame Asobo for not wanting discussion about a piece of software that bypasses the features they are obviously trying to implement? And in my experience, the dynamic settings do work now and I have tried the other software in the past. In the end, we should prefer the internal solution shouldn’t we? Let’s help them debug it.
