Extremely Poor Performance - GPU Utilisation Very Low

I have never in the past raised issues about MSFS 2020, but after the last message from MS saying how great it was to see so many people playing MSFS 2024 over the weekend, I had to now put this up as it was quite disheartening to see. I have not, since Day 1, been able to fly in the new sim due to poor performance. I have had to revert to MSFS 2020 to enjoy flying. Please see accompanying MSFS 2024 screenshots (sorry, using snipping tool so image is not great but you can see the stats) - in each case I am using the iniBuilds 321 and have spawned in three of my regular airports. In each case, FPS is approximately 50% what I would see in MSFS 2020 running the FENIX A320 which would likely be more heavy on my performance. I have the latest NVIDIA driver and I have also tried removing and re-installing MSFS 2024 to see if anything needed to be refreshed. I have seen many messages like mine in the forum, but I have seen no acknowledgement that there might be an issue from MS or Asobo. Such poor utilisation from my GPU (whilst also seeing high VRAM usage) just doesn’t make any sense and I can only assume this is part of the issue - I see no such problem with MSFS 2020 (utilisation up towards 100%). CPU main thread issue seems to have been improved in MSFS 2024, so I’m rather disappointed that the bottleneck now seems to have just passed onto the GPU in quite a significant way. Please can someone from MS/Asobo acknowledge the issue and come up with a solution? Thanks.

Vanilla install, nothing in Community folder.

I have exactly the same specs as you and unfortunately I am seeing the same. FPS is shockingly low often below 15fps while on 2020 with vatsim traffic and 3rd party scenery, 35-40fps. Hope they figure this out soon as we are above the recommended specs…

I don’t know if it is some Windows update but I also have high ram consumption in MSFS 2020 and even more so in MSFS 2024.
While this is resolved somewhere I use this.
In emptying the first option and the penultimate one.

FS2024 is much more multithreaded and that CPU only seems to have 8 cores so that is probably why. I was surprised it was released in 2022 with so few cores.

My CPU has 24 threads and I get between 75 and 140fps most of the time.

Hopefully they can tweak it to support low core-count CPUs without breaking more capable hardware! It’s a tough job they have there.

The same here, poor fps, little use of GPU and CPU. 9800x3d and rtx4070

There is a VRAM bug going around… There are several other threads about this. Doesnt really matter graphic settings in some machines at some point the GPU just stops working

This seems like an AMD issue, I’m not playing down AMD here since they do have awesome CPU’s
I’m running
I7 9700k
32GB RAM
3060TI
Getting 70+ FPS most of the time and I’m running at 1440p
Maybe it’s a bug with the AMD CPUs
I hope this gets fixed for you ASAP and you’re in the skies in no time

I made an account here just to point out how insanely stupid this comment is. It’s 8 cores, 16 threads, and still a top tier gaming GPU. Your 8 more e cores aren’t doing that much.

Lol. Good for you! Fortunately, after my planner upgrade and even though it is insanely stupid, my PC runs this and another high multi-threaded game great compared to those with few cores.

AMD user here, 7945HX 16 core with a 4070ti / 32GB ram , getting better perf than from 2020 with higher settings. Also running VMs and browsing at same time. Its buggy in places but performance I cannot fault so far.

Would like to help. You haven’t shown your graphics settings detail, so its difficult to know the reason. I see you might be running 4K? Do you have internal GPU as well as the 3070? Outside of that, perhaps an app running on your PC is impairing the games perf? Or a re-install might flush out the gremlins.

Agree… this is probably the worst purchase ive ever made. Lesson learned.
