Are you using the latest DLSS version (3.8.10.0)? MSFS 2024 installs with version 2.4.12.0.

I swapped the files with DLSS Swapper and saw better performance.

There is no way FS 24 has DLSS 2.4 since the game has the Frame Generation option which is DLSS 3 exclusive

i did the update (both dlss and frame gen) though i am not using dlss becase it looks horribly compared to taa when you are in the cockpit, screens are way too blurry and have ghosting

This is what I saw before swapping the files. Is that not the version number?

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

I have abnormally high VRAM usage, especially in any of the inibuilds airliners to the point where it becomes unplayable. Why Inibuilds was hand picked to have their planes featured in 2024 in the first place blows my mind- they are notoriously known for being the worst at optimizing aircraft in terms of performance.

I get excellent performance over the middle of NYC in other aircraft, but even if I’m over the middle of the Atlantic in an inibuilds, VRAM is absolutely cooked (12gb and higher) resulting in seizure-inducing single digit frames.

again, in a cessna 172 settings medium to high compared to all ultra msfs2020

There is definitely something wrong. I once again spawned with an A330-300 at EDDH (default airport, no addon, no traffic) and had a good smooth start with 30-40 FPS. But suddenly, about 2 minutes later and out of nowhere, it dropped to fricking 6 FPS. That makes no sense.

If there are others like me who start with high FPS but then experience a severe drop in FPS after a short time, I think I may have found the cause of the problem. When I pay attention, I notice that when I get high FPS, the GPU temperature goes up to around 72-75°C. However, when the FPS drops to 10, the temperature drops to around 60°C. I suspect that the GPU is somehow reducing its clock speed, which causes the FPS drop. I would call it thermal throttling, but 75°C isn’t a high temperature. (Asus TUF A15 gaming laptop, RTX 4070 GPU) I still can’t understand why the GPU clock speed drops. Other than that, I’ve never experienced this issue in any game before.

I’m having exactly the same problem.

Have you tried lowering texture resolution?
It needs to restart ms2024 to take effect.
You obviously exceed Vram limit.
There is barely any difference with Texture Resolution Ultra-High-Medium.

On my 7900x3d and 4080(16gb vram) in 5120x1440 (ie almost 4k) I have to reduce Texture Resolution to not exceed Vram limit.

Helps a lot reducing Vram usage.

Can’t get FrameGen to work though…

If we still have to lower the graphics settings with an RTX 4080, it’s better not to play this game at all. It’s clear that the game has obvious technical issues. Hopefully, the developers are aware of the problems and will find a solution for this optimization issue as soon as possible.

Not really. Texture Resolution has almost 0 impact on visual quality.
In a 1920x1080 resolution I would have no problems. But a 4080 in 4k Im happy to lower some settings…

“Can’t get FrameGen to work though…”

what did you mean with this btw, what kind of issue do you have with fg?
