False advertising?

100% agree, I am a lawyer and this is indeed false advertising.
Water corals are indeed ingame, MBAC and MBSC have them, but they are nothing like what they are showing in every single trailer.
We said it before and we say it now after launch, stop showing fake montages to the public, the game looks super good already, no need to misslead new buyers.

P3D is still excellent. Agree. Especially for high quality / complexity add- ons and procedures.

Well you just explained what I am doing , nice :+1:

You know I think this is exactly what they did with FSX and it never recovered, the pictures never matched the reality.

P3D is good for VFR and VR.

Asobo wasn’t very smart with advertising this product. They knew long before that the water masking wasn’t ready for release. Still they produced images and videos showing them.

This is the same with the poor lod radius and poor photogrammetry trees that need to be covered by the large autogen trees.

Once you bought the sim and start it up, even the loading screenshots don’t match ingame graphics. The screenshots with the cessna shows totally different trees then that we can get in the sim. Also the lod is much further. Same go’s for the sfo loading screenshot where the lod’s are so much higher then 200 in game.

The sim looks absolutely stunning, and i’m enjoying it more and more every day. But why the hell would they not use ingame screenshots instead of screenshots from builds that we don’t get to see.

That they showed it at E3 i can understand. But they should have toned the graphics down for any release videos or screenshots. And especially for loading screenshots.

I think Microsoft marketing wonks are probably handling the promotional material and setting the agenda. It’s not unusual for a publisher (as opposed to a developer - which is what Asobo are in this) to commission outside production houses to create the kind of promo reel you see in these YouTube videos. Sure, they may have been supplied with access to in-sim assets, but my suspicion is that what we’re seeing in these videos is some hybrid of actual gameplay and 3D graphics workstations cranking out the bells and whistles.

Either way, it’s unashamedly misleading. But I’d lay the blame for that squarely at Microsoft’s door.

I can’t find anything about “promotional beta” in the trailer

It could have been easy by saying “may not represent actual in-game play”.

It reminds me when I used to play FP shooters a way back you would get these awesome trailers that were really computer animation rather than the actual game play. I remember a shocker for Jurassic park or something that I used for 5 minutes as the animals looked like kindy drawings of Dinosaurs!

Nice shots. At least we know what is possible and we will just have to be patient whilst the missing areas are updated.

Do keep in mind that the Series X has RDNA2 which fully supports Direct X 12 Ultimate including ray tracing. Ray tracing is about to be more common place with the inclusion in the new consoles as well as RDNA2 and Ampere supporting it as well across the stack.

The problem is that doing raytracing in a open world is even for the new cards a big performance hit. The raytracing used on PS5 is for local raytracing in small areas (and even then it’s kinda faked, objects left out of tracing)

Good finding, recommended to lock a feedback ticket at Zendesk to Asobo,.

So you are saying if a company offers their product for cheap they can falsely advertise all they like?
Terrible argument.

No False advertising here
My dog appears in the backyard as it does IRL !

This thing was advertised using pretty much the standard “look at the bling” style video game hype method. Subsequently, I’ve read this same discussion for about 300 game releases over the years. (Give or take.)

We can go round and round on the issue of false advertising, but when it comes down to it, it’s nothing new, it works, and I doubt the advertising department is going to change it’s ways anytime soon. When it comes to computer entertainment products, it’s best just to assume that the final product, at best, may or may not actually appear in the manner represented in it’s advertising when it’s actually released, and not use said appearance as a primary criteria for purchase choices without having seen the final product first.

More and more I get confused, you said previously you are using Xplane, Aerofly, after a while you said Google map with the aircraft, and now P3D
and you said you bought MSFS and using it, honestly I start doubting what you are trying to said or for whatever reason
the only consistent argument you are telling is helicopter\gilder\vr which is your main need, the rest is inconsistent\confusing.

What you means they are nothing like they are showing in single trailers? all are from different area, they won’t be the same at all, the 2 newer video are not yet in, but will be soon. Also if Bing update the area, it won’t be the same as trailer again, this have been said clearly, no secret, Archachon already got updated from Bing update, the same in few months or 1 years etc
could be changed from trailers and won’t be the same again, this is Bing update and development. There is area will be updated for newer soon from Bing, again the area will be changed.

Yes I have all the sims and I use them all for different reasons as they compromise something but have a strength .

  1. P3D good VR great VFR graphics , good FPS on DX12 now but a basic rotary wing flight model .

  2. X plane 11B , good VR, good FPS , great flight model , scenery ok
 just Ok .

  3. Aerofly FS2 , fantastic VR, high fidelity flight model, beautiful graphics but a dead world and lack of functionality but the flight model is so good I can deal
    With that .

  4. DCS, great flight model good graphics, great VR , lack of scenery but is the only true combat sim.

  5. MSFS , fantastic graphics , flight model good but no vr or helicopters and a lack of functionality .

I am here because I decided that helicopters will come and VR as they have been made public so I’ll get the sim set up . I was hoping it would replace all my sims but the lack of functionality at launch and concentration on making it an x box friendly game is indicative to me it will end up being compromised in its own way like the other sims . Time will tell but I am disappointed it was launched in a rush with this narrowed functionality and with DX 11. The DX11 base concerns me the most as it’s hard to upgrade a graphics API without breaking the SDK and therefore breaking the 3rd party add ons . Maybe it’s not that hard from DX 11 to 12 but it’s been painful
for X Plane and P3d .

I bought into MSFS because I can and there was no point being here after the free apha ended unless I had the software . I can’t claim I was duped by the false advertising as I was an Alpha tester but there are certainly people that bought in that expected a lot more based on the marketing hype.

It means if you use 15 pictures to promote the game and you visit those 15 locations they look nothing like in the pictures you used to promote the game it is called falsa advertisement.
Bing data has not been updated in New York or Madrid since 2014, so don’t try to make me believe they magically updated only the areas that had water textures in order to make them look worse.
Either they are using future models or they just did like they did with FSX and used edited pictures, which is the most likely option.

Don’t take me wrong, I love the game and think it looks incredible, I just dislike the trend of big companies lying in their trailers.
