Since we already have water masks in some areas that look exactly like in the trailers it has to be the former. That‘s also what they said in the Q&A.
Can you point to a specific location? I’ve been flying all over the Turks and Caicos islands and my water is the usual dark color. Nothing like the trailers. I would love to see those!
I personally have seen it in Eleuthera (Bahamas), Ambergris Cay (Turks and Caicos Islands) and the Dahlak Archipelago (Eritrea).

I finally was able to see it! For whatever reason I had “Bing data world graphics” turned off on the Data option, so to anyone unable to see the water masking, double check if you have this option enabled. It’s beautiful!
