Fast Boot

Hi all,

A little trick to get to the MSFS desktop faster, mine takes 40 seconds using this.

I use a fastlaunch bat file and from the time I see the Portor until I’m at the desktop takes 40 seconds.

Under the data tab, turn OFF.
Exit MSFS
Reboot MSFS, then reset your data as you wish. Just remember to turn OFF data prior to exit.

Must say that the quick boot is worth the extra few steps.

i7 10700K at 5.1.
16Gb DDR4 at 2990 (all my MB will handle).

It actually works, thank you for sharing!
I believe that this can be considered a bug and should be addressed by Asobo.

Thanks for trying it out. I discovered this trick quite by accident but I do enjoy screwing around with flight sims.

Under Data, turn off what exactly?

What is “the MSFS desktop”? Do you mean the sim menu? Or quitting the sim and going back to the Windows desktop?

Yes, the sim menu which takes normally, on my rig, 2:00 to come up, sometimes longer.

The first line under the data menu, all the data. You will still be able to get into the game, you are merely in ‘offline mode’.

Interesting find. Thanks. Makes sense of course: without data access the sim won’t try to update.

Just tried it with a few mods enabled:
total time from clicking the icon to the main menu was 3:02 min with data on and 1:49 with data off.
