FBW A320 Install issue

After the latest mandatory update proved impossible to get from the Microsoft store - the store instructed me to install from Xbox app - which I did, not realizing that it was going to install the entire sim again from scratch.

So, hours and hours later with a brand new install all updated and all aircraft present and correct (apart from the marketplace FBW A320), I used the FBW downloader to install the developer version of the A320 neo as shown below:

As you can see it shows that it is installed. Next I start Microsoft flight simulator and in the world map screen I go to aircraft selection and see the aircraft is present. Loading it is where the issue was noticed. It never ended loading.

Eventually, I left the FBW downloader screen visible and the next time I tried to load the aircraft, exactly the same thing happened in game but the FBW downloader now displayed this message:

As shown, this update message occurs about halfway through the loading process. I checked that the mod is in the community folder. To me, it is as it should be and I am now puzzled as to what is causing the above issue.

What does it want me to update? The sim? It’s now fully updated. The Downloader? As far as I’m aware it’s the latest version. I uninstalled the old and re- downloaded a new one.

Any ideas? My sim is installed to the following path:

D:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-1467922833-3321577768-2047874799-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe.

The community folder is :
D:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-1467922833-3321577768-2047874799-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

Finally, if I close the simulator as instructed by the FBW Downloader, it reverts to the first screenshot showing that the package as installed.

Thanks for any assistance. It’s driving me nuts.

Try removing the “flybywire-aircraft-a320-neo” folder from the community folder and then re-installing.

Thanks @TheSevenflyer . I feel sure I’ve tried that one but just to be sure I just tried it again with no success. Exactly the same issue.

I also have PMDG’s DC6, so I’ll try that and see if the same issue is evident.

I see you must have other addons in your community folder.
This could be caused by a conflict.
I would try renaming the folder, make an empty new one and re-installing.

I only had the FBW a320 folder in my community folder initially. I just now added the PMDG DC6 to see if I could load that.

The result is that although it took its sweet old time, the DC6 did in fact load and I could access the cockpit, so I assume that one is working perfectly.

The issue still persists with the FBW mod.

I installed both mods to a clean, empty community folder. I just wanted to test the install of the DC6 as it installs to the community folder. I can remove that now I know it works and concentrate on the FBW mod. It does seem to have installed correctly as it is in the community folder but I can’t understand why it fails around halfway through the loading screen and tells me to close the sim and update. It is fully updated. Puzzling isn’t it.

Oh, I did delete the community folder and make a new one before installing the mods again. forgot to mention that, sorry.

Do you have all the sim updates installed?
When you start the sim, is there anything in the notifications in the upper right?

I’ll check but I think everything is installed except the FBW A320 Leap from the market place.

That might be your issue.
Uninstall the marketplace version.

It is uninstalled. I.e. it was never installed in the first place.

Ok, well lets take that route. That shouldn’t be there.
Remove the version from the community folder, and install this one.

Since last update of MSFS my A32NX and the scenery don’t load and the simulator freeze, I dont have this problem with my other third parts aircraft addons. I removed all other addons from Community folder and the problem still there.
Seeing your post I removed A32NX and I started MSFS to install it from Contant Manager but I dont I dont see A32NX as it show in your Content Manager.
Thanks in advance for your help

His was obtained through the marketplace.
Remove your “flybywire-aircraft-a320-neo” folder from the community folder.
Get the latest installer from the FBW here.

Try installing the development or experimental version, not the stable.
I’m not sure if the stable version has been updaterd since the MSFS update.

@TheSevenflyer
I’ve tried all three variations, stable, developer and experimental.

Now there’s nothing at all in my community folder.

I’ve downloaded and installed the A32nx from the content manager as you suggested.
Note that the version is 0.6.1
That can’t be the latest version. It also shows in the aircraft selection menu as Fly By Wire A320 neo (Leap)

Although the loading bar (blue) completes, the sim stays on the loading screen forever.

Does the loading complete?
After you installed it, did you restart the sim and see if it was in your list of installed aircraft?
Different versions have different #'s

It appears to complete. I re-started the sim and it showed in the aircraft selection menu

I also checked the content manager info tab and found this:

So that is effectively saying that the installed version is the original marketplace version which is not what I want and refuses to load properly anyway.

Ok, so now go back to the marketplace and get the new version. I believe this may have been interfering with the one you added to the community folder.

Ok, thanks. I’ll try that. Do you think that may be the cause of the FBW Downloader versions not working, i.e. stable, developer & experimental?

Yes, it wouldn’t surprise me.
The FBW installer may have seen the Store version and wouldn’t work because of that.

Please remove the marketplace version (via content manager)!!
Check
\packages\official\ folder if the marketplace version is really uninstalled (remove any FBW related folder).
THEN install the latest dev version from our installer.

This is weird. I had to reboot my machine as MSFS2020 refused to load at all. Anyway I finally got it loaded up again and guess what?

In the Content manager the A32nx by Flybywire simulations is listed as an option for install. However this time the version is 0.6.0. even older than the 0.6.1 obviously.

In addition to that, there is no listing from the Fly By Wire team anywhere in the Marketplace.

Of course, not being installed the aircraft does not show up in the aircraft selection menu. So I am going to try again with the FBW Downloader to install the developer version into my empty, squeaky clean community folder.

If that doesn’t work, I’ll have to go back to flying my DC6 I think and give up on the Airbus that I was enjoying prior to this d@mned mandatory update.

@Watsi01 Thanks for that. I’ll check the \packages\official\ folder. That’s something I hadn’t thought of.

Nothing in the ‘official’ folder relating to FBW, so here goes

Nope. ‘Please close simulator and update’ message in FBW Downloader. Exactly as per original post.
