Hey, I tried asking some more in depth questions about the new TIN cities and updates for the scenery, but my question wasn’t picked up. If possible, can you ask Jörg next time what happened to the new TIN cities in the map shown in the Grand Canyon Global Preview event.

There are new cities in Africa, South America, Asia, Oceania etc that aren’t in the sim as of now. Also the MSFS 2024 trailer showcased a new LA TIN that wasn’t also implemented. Jörg also said they had a new Miami in the works. Would like to know if those are still in the table.

Thanks in advance.

Good to hear the admission that they did not do proper Alpha and Beta testing.

Quite an interesting two hours, with some of my queries answered - in particular when SU2 will be out (suggested to be in April).

Many questions were skated over a bit, though. Do VRAM problems really only happen at airports? Not on my system - sometimes the VRAM usage is high and the fps low throughout a flight. I must have missed any discussion about the sound issues, one of the major bugs. WT talked about improving the ATC in the future, but no comment about fixing the basic bugs (such as you have to continuously scroll down to see the latest transmission - FS2020 did that automatically).

So disappointing in places.

I cannot help but think a lot was lost in translation back there; I was listening so hard my ears hurt, but I could not make sense out of some of what was said.

I’d have to disagree about force quitting the game on Xbox. I always force quit, yet lod in larger aircraft is still extremely poor, even first flight.

Also, nothing mentioned about the ridiculous amount of static ground aircraft (often badly rendered in) Again, Xbox.

Just wanted to ask how to get rid of bug on the Beaver amphibian being stuck on the parking after preflight check. The solution in support and YouTube only works on PC, not Xbox. Didn’t get a straight answer from support.

On the whole, I thought this was a good livestream. There did seem to be a change in tone, more open, less dismissive and picking up on chat comments a bit more. I know there will inevitably be people who are annoyed that their particular issue wasn’t addressed, but I came away from it feeling quite positive that they’re making good progress.

As Zarikmac mentions above, an implicit admission that 2024 didn’t receive proper testing and that this won’t happen again was good to hear as well as the acknowledgement that compatibility was harder than envisaged. Sometimes, it’s just good to see someone hold their hands up and say we got it wrong and here’s how we’re going to fix it. It was helpful to get some idea of the scope scale and timings of fixes and what this entails. I was interested in the explanation of SU bug fixes versus small hotfixes.

I do wish they hadn’t left it 3 months to address some of this, but at least we have some idea of the way forward they have planned now.

not on youtube yet ? (prefer it there for subtitles)

Hello @marty2756,

We are uploading the VOD to YouTube right now. It takes a bit for YouTube to automatically add the subtitles. We’ll post a link here as soon as it’s available.

Thanks,

Thank you!

I thought it was a pretty comprehensive stream. Addressed the elephant in the room, and went thru a bunch of issues that have been fixed and even more being worked on for future release. This sim will be fantastic in the months ahead, and they stated new features will be coming also.

I thought the livestream was great, they went through a lot of stuff in depth and answered most of the questions I had going in - really cool that they are willing to do these, I’ve never seen a game developer so engaged with the community outside of Indie games!

I’ve been pretty sick for three days, so my attention is hard to maintain.

Did anyone pick out why we aren’t getting updated 3rd party content streamed to us?

Are we going have to wait until the Marketplace is opened for the updated content to be something we can gain access to?

That was completely lost on me.

I’m glad to hear we are all getting free puppies, however.

As a Helicopter pilot I was disappointed at lack of detail and information re Heli specific bugs

The stream was OK. I do appreciate their openness and their wish to improve the sim is clear, but I didn’t come away feeling hugely uplifted. Though I’m not sure what I really expected…

Didn’t get any questions answered (I only asked each one once; I refuse to spam them and wish others would be blocked for doing so), but at least made Jorg laugh when I brought up critical topic of beards for avatars near the end :man_beard:

I truly hope that lessons were learnt and that a seemingly rushed release will never happen again. But I have a feeling Jorg’s wishes may be overridden when all is said and done, so history may repeat itself. It usually does when enough time has passed.

Interesting that 2/3 of the player base are on 2024. On PC, it likely mirrors the Steam stats where 2020 is still king, so that makes me think the vast majority of Xbox players (who are more likely to be casual fliers) are on 2024 now, which is no surprise since it has more activities and requires less storage space.

I’m still 95% happy with MSFS 2020 meanwhile - though slightly saddened that it will receive little further attention (not officially stated but it’s obvious where the efforts must go for the foreseeable). I’ve come to live with its own set of long-term issues & regression bugs by now.

I’ll wait and see what the final SU1 update brings. Would be nice to see World Hub return too; good to know it’s on the way.

They mentioned nothing about this. They just confused it with blurry Xbox LOD?! And then skipped on.

It was good to hear the acknowledgement that they needed a Beta (and will never have another release without a “Flighting”). They also mentioned having a lengthy internal diagnosis on the CDN issue in the first 3-4 days after launch and feel that Microsoft learned a lot and now have a handle on the problem to prevent it for all applications, not just FS.

Other highlights included that SU1 and the release of the first “Make Good” planes is scheduled in two weeks and that SU2 is scheduled for April, with four SUs per year. Also that an announcement will be made on FSR3 at the next Dev Update and that ATC will be improved after bugs are fixed (Working Title). Finally, the Marketplace release is targeted for Feb 18, but they are taking their time since “it must be perfect” (or as close as they can make it), so it may slip a week or two because they keep finding more bugs during testing.

Was interesting that 2/3 of MSFS users are flying 2024 and 1/3 2020.
