FFAI - Complete AI Traffic add-on coming soon for MSFS

FFAI seems only to provide textures for the generic models, at least from the looks of the trailer. No change to the overall ATC system.

Even Asobo is currently more or less unable to provide a quick fix for the ATC logic, so i guess doing this for 3rd party is impossible at the moment.

What do you mean with: ā€œbunch of files thrown in a folderā€? My enhanced live traffic doesn’t have a bunch of useless/messy files. Just focus on the .exe or make a shortcut to it. And what has amateur hour to do with it. This add-on takes a lot of time to build, since the FS SDK is lacking a lot of functionality..

Don’t take it too personally. It’s just that too many of these addons I’ve seen are either unfinished, don’t work properly, deliver indeed all this amount of files in a folder - every time the same bunch? Can’t that be a bit more streamlined - it’s just messy… there’s no installer, there’s bad user interfaces… it’s a jungle out there…

I’m sure part of it is because of the sim, but also because some addon makers don’t seem to care. Not every simmer out there knows how to deal with this stuff. A nicer user experience is never a bad idea.

Just one opinion. Don’t let it bother you. Focus on the people who like it.

And if it helps… I have the same gripe with for instance Little Nav Map. It’s a great program once you get through the hoops and over the hurdles. But the delivery sucks. Just a folder with files. Good luck.

After all the trouble and putting in that energy, why not finish it in style?

There use to be a great little program for creating install files for freeware and small income developers. However, like most software these days it seems as soon as people take notice they get greedy and started charging for every little feature. So the free version of their software was crippled so much it was worthless. If you are not making any money off your product do you really want to spend a hundred dollars on a product to create install files?

Really not that complicated either, for a simple install. One page script. And there’s some editors around which use this installer. Make script, compile, test.

I think Visual-C for MS also has a free version and contains installer options.

But yes, don’t try InstallShield. They will bleed you dry, money wise. But that one is really not necessary.

Can be as simple as a config file, up to complex installations using Pascal programing language!

I understand what you mean. The current UI of my add-on is very basic right now, since I wanted to focus on the features. However, once I feel my application works fine, I will definitely start making a modern UI.
I am currently looking into an installer :slight_smile:

Does anyone know, what is the parameter called for idle thrust. Msfs2020 is using 15% (0.15)thrust for idle thrust (taxiing) and it is too slow when exiting runway. Talking about ai aircraft and live traffic.

I tried a higher minimum thrust value but it only had a small effect. You have a way bigger impact by making the planes land at a higher speed. You get a way more realistic rollout.

The problem with that is that every airport has a different runway exit layout. You are fine with a runway that has plenty of exits at the back. If you have a runway with only 2 or 3 exits the AI needs to move to the end and can still cause a go-around.

basicly i can

  • setting landing speeds/aircraft.
  • disable reverse thrust

This i cant do, yet

  • setting brake effectines (toe brakes), still 1.00 (100%),
    *i use toe_brakes_scale = 0.01 but not working.
  • idle thrust when taxing (0.15 atm = 15%). When Settings min thrust to 0.30, aircraf is landing with 30% thrust but when status are changed to taxiing, thrust goes from 5% to max of 15%.

Yeah, taxi is hard coded. The AI doesn’t care about the thrust setting. With a higher landing speed you can still give the AI some reverser and get a legit rollout. The brakes and taxi is locked.

I did find some stuff from propcontain.xml

How does that delivery suck? Just plop it in a folder a run the exe. It isn’t hard at all.
I figured that out the very first time I ever used the program. It was quite obvious.

lol but how the ai traffic perform now is useless, the offline is full of terrible bugs and live traffic has a mess of many bugs cause FlightAware is not good at all in some countries they spot on same gates plus airports taxiways and runway are broke, and not talk about ATC logic and speeds when the entry and leave the runway until Asobo fix this mess not much to do with ai traffic immersion

Some users will still pay the bucks for it, and it is any easy cash-cow for the developer…

so lets wait to peoples buy this addon and after few days they will complain to aerosoft about how bug is the addon when is a problem from game engine
