After over a year of waiting we are finally here!!! iBlueYonder and IniBuilds are releasing KDAL and downtown Dallas skyline on April 3!!!
Topic moved into #gd-interests:scenery-and-airports
Looking forward to this one! I have the Pachilabs version, which is certainly better than the default version, but this looks to be superb.
OMG, finally, very nice!
Very nice. Definitely a must-buy. I’ve been really impressed with everything iniBuilds has been putting out.
Its not an inibuilds scenery, its iBlueYonder (Bill Womack)
Correct; IniBuilds partnered w/ them, but iBlueYonder designed it.
It has launched!!! HAPPY Dallas Love Day everyone!
Bought it the minute it was available. Cant wait to try it out tonight
Same here purchased and looking forward to trying this evening.
Big thanks to the OP for posting this so I was aware it was coming out.
Seems ok. Textures are better at airport and the Dallas skyline is much improved over original. Happy here for the value it provides.
Issue I’m seeing is blurry ground textures at times. Some folks over at the avsim forums also confirmed this. Seems to come and go, but made worse when going in and out of drone mode.
Looking forward to your review!
Well, id say it is a very decent scenery. Im not familiar with the realworld counterpart, i was mainly interested because it a Skywest hub and i like to fly these routes with the PMDG 737.
Knowing Bill Womacks (now iBlueYonder) work from decades ago, and that his work is always outstanding, it was a sure buy. He has created quite a few “classic” sceneries in the past, under his own name and for ORBX aswell.
The texturing and modelling is very good, altho, i think there are a few develops out there who are able achieve a bit higher quality, speak, a bit more detailed texturing. But overall, theres not really something to complain about.
Interior is modelled where it makes sense, but not too much unnecessary things. As the airport hasnt many windows to see inside the terminal, this makes absolutely sense, as the performance is very very good!
All the FBOs are modelled and everyone has a 3D modelled Logo on it. Maybe not so important, but for me, i like this stuff, especially if you fly GA or BusinessJets, its important that not only the mainterminal gets some love, but also the more remote areas of the airport. This is definitely the case here, altho, i think there could be a bit more clutter around there.
Im not a fan of too much clutter all over the airport, as this interferes with GSX. He places just a few bits around the main gates, which is great for that aspect, but it could be a bit more “life” around the FBOs.
Overall, the airport feels a bit “bland”, but thats just how it is in real life aswell. Its not exactly a pretty airport, it doesnt have many signs and billboard etc, its very “clean” and that is also what it feels in the sim. So, not a bad thing.
What is worth mentioning, is that the Jetways are very detailed modelled, according to the real counterparts.
For sure one of the quality airports outthere, but not quite on par with what Flightbeam can achive, especially in the texturing, but its definitely not bad at all.
Totally agree with your sentiments.
The roads textures around and in the airport are terrible quality but everything else looks great to me. Downtown Dallas was a big part of this buy, for me, since I couldn’t believe it wasn’t even included as regular photogrammetry in the base sim.
Thanks for this mini review. I’ll get that airport then, I also love flying SWA routes.
You’re the best!
Haven’t steered me wrong yet, thanks!
Today i noticed a strange issue, when looking from the runway towards the downtown area, ma framerate halfes and its stuttery AF. Basically unplayable. Anyone else experienced this? Strangely, i didnt have this issue the first time i took of on monday…
I’ve been enjoying this airport and surrounding downtown cityscape especially having grown up in nearby Preston Hollow. One thing I’d like to modify is the distance in which the buildings downtown begin to populate. It would seem to me that they are injecting into the scenery at about the 8-10 mile range. Can that be modified without adjusting with graphics settings within the sim? I have everything dialed in well for VR on my travel laptop.
I haven’t had many stutters or performance issues. Some of downtown buildings look super fake to me. Don’t know how to describe it, but when it’s daytime the lighting on some of the buildings just makes them look fake looking. Other than that, no issues.
