First Experience MS2024 XBOX SERIES S

My first experience with the Xbox Series S was not interesting, at least graphically speaking. Lots of pop-ins and bad LOD. Maybe this will be updated later, but the great advantage of this new SIM, which would be the visual quality, is not being delivered, perhaps due to memory issues that were not polished in time. I’ve had better LOD in 2020. Time will tell how this will turn out in a few months. Anyway, everything is promising and I’m confident that it will improve, but honestly, I don’t think it’s worth buying. Another negative thing is the UI, too complicated for an Xbox controller, I miss the top bar that existed in 2020 during gameplay. I hope the feedback helps those who are thinking about buying. At this point, I wouldn’t buy it. msfs-2024

Apart from not being able to adjust controller settings, my first experience was the opposite.

I went into career and started at Pembrey, and the circuit around the airport was great, graphics were a real step up from 2020.

Maybe it’s due to connection variations, but that’s just a guess. I think it can and will be optimized. Regarding the UI, with almost 700 hours of 2020, I feel like it will take some time to get used to, although I think it can be simplified.

The LOD problem in 2020 was outrageous, so outrageous that I was counting the days until 2024. And now we have this, it’s complicated.

I forgot to mention the lighting at generic airports at night, it’s still as bad as 2020. :upside_down_face:

I just finished a test flight on the sim (part of). I did an entire flight loading and plane configuration at the gate with the 737. Did this at a star airport: LFMN. I stopped after takeoff when I saw everything was working somewhat smooth. I am very much looking forward to the next updates and I’m pleased with certain aspects.

-No black avionics!! Which is by far my worst nightmare with MSFS2020. I basically stopped using the sim for months because of those almost assured black screens. But despite using a very detailed plane at a star, fully modeled airport, it didn’t go black. However, it came at the cost of heavy stuttering.

-The stutters are heavy. Very heavy. Actual screen freeze heavy. Which is very bad. But it makes me hopeful. Better this than black screens in my opinion. Because this is something I believe is workable by working title/asobo. I think in time things will be much better.

-city lights are way better than in MSFS2020. It doesn’t feel like a map being lit up with a pocket light anymore. You can distinguish building better and at a greater distance. One of my favorite improvements.

-I did not notice a drop in graphics compared to MSFS2020. Looked pretty good to me, if not better. However, I am not a VFR/bush flight simmer and although important for my experience, it is not necessary the thing I’d notice first.

-UX/UI took a major hit. Honestly, this makes me believe they didn’t test the sim on Xbox. It’s wildly user-hostile (lmao). It’s not intuitive, the cursor mode switch is abysmal, the tablet is designed as if we actually could press the screen in the game, the right analog does not drop down the menus. Also, from MSFS2020, it takes quite a bit a getting used to.

-There is this very specific bug while trying to enter the runway info on the take off performance page. The tablet on the 737 only lets you chose the airport, and from there the runway list drops down (I suppose). However, as soon as you leave the keyboard, the list closes, and if you go back on the keyboard and press B to come back the airport name disappears. You actually cannot input runway info.

-The pushback command automatically starts pushing you back to the right and straight line it’s supposed to, or at least like it used to.

-None of my bought aircraft on MSFS2020 are available. Nor any add ons. And I came to understand the in-sim market would be off but the bought addons would be available.

-The loading time, 8 hours later, are now ok. Takes less than a minute.

-I had a CTD every time I tried using the a320v2. Working title did announce a few hours ago that there is a bug going on with big planes at big airports, the a320 not being one of the listed. I still however had a CTD with it at a non star, low traffic, one runway airport.

-I am hopeful for this new sim. Saying the launch was rocky is being extremely kind, but there is a lot of potential in my opinion. The one thing that would have destroyed me is black screens. But I think that is past us now, and the stutters will be better. I am the biggest “hater” of MSFS 2020 on Xbox series S ( just check my last 20 posts lol. I have I cried and screamed and been mad at working title more times than I’ve eaten in the past 10 months. But I truly believe things will be better after this. There is a lot of hope to be had. We can finally get what we deserve.

Simply put, I uninstalled my GAME yes Microsoft the game :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:!!!

im not very impressed at all im starting to think that MSFS 2020 was not at all that bad. ill take the temu shop traffic and no runway lights at Europe airports any day now.

I could have used my time waiting for this sim for something else. also why build the hype of the sim on console if it cant even be used. why even does it say optimised if its not really. this cant be called optimised at all

op·ti·mized, op·ti·miz·ing. to make as effective, perfect, or useful as possible . to make the best of.

MSFS surely made sure xbox has a “useful as possible” or make the best of ONLY experience

I use the Series S 1 TB because sadly I cant afford the next big PC, shoot me, life okey!! anyway so the series S was the best option for my budget. I Currently have 3 games installed on it, so ample space, all other apps were closed when playing the “game”. does it not take a whole 3 years to load??? Bruh. 2020 is and was so much faster. and the lag OMG were not even starting that conversation

the first try loading in, I got black screens on the A321.NOT even mentioning the a330 not even having a flight deck (thank you MSFSX for the PTSD)… the mouse is absolutely bombing out in the flight deck and I cant even align the view to see what building im about to taxi into. on start you have to remap every single control because there are like 17 uses for one button, WHY?
guys and how do you do preflight planning, where is the flight rules option is it just VFR flights or? why did they change so much of the interface, IT WORKED IN MSFS the only thing we wanted was to create a FPL in sim and not exit every single time to do so

just before I gave birth to a pea, I stoped everything and uninstalled the sim, because why struggle in life?

I read thru the forum now and I’ve experienced every single problem mentioned here.

@msfs2024 please get your stuff (a different word is used in real life) together why promise us something out of this world on console and now we sit with a unusable sim that gives you more grey hair than your job. this sim is supposed to make you relaxed after along day of work, it needs to be your reason to go home. please MS I beg of you do your community proud, and fix this. ive been a FS guy since 98 was released.

Wonder if this topic only pertains to Xbox series S or launch on Xbox in general.I mean including X series.I am on Xbox X Series and taking liberty to post my queries here.

1/ I am in a region where excessibility to Sim/ Game of level of MSFS 2024 is limited and in absence of marketplace how does one purchase the Sim.

2/ Understand unlike FS2020 where one could get a physical disc which I did then, there is no such provision for FS2024.If it’s purchased through an outlet like BestBuy in USA or Amazon what one will get is a Code.I assume that code will have to be fed in one’s Xbox and downloading will commence.

3/ Due FS2020 having consumed massive storage I am left with about 40% storage.Would it be advisable to get a hard drive for storage expansion though I believe FS2024 will need about 15-20 GB.

4/ Looking at issues being faced by people both on PC and Xbox would it be advisable to wait for sometime for things to settle down before making a purchase.I believe only GA aircraft are working properly at this stage.

5/ Are previous purchases from Marketplace and Add-Ons downloading. Any guesses on marketplace 2024.

An Xbox is an Xbox so feedback is welcome. I personally haven’t tested it any further, I was discouraged, I confess!

Good morning fellow Simmers

is there any improvements yet that you know of ?

I never tested it again, I don’t see any reason to do so at the moment. For now I’ll keep following the forum.
