Take a first look at Carenado’s brand-new B55 light twin for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024! In this video, I’ll walk you through the exterior and interior models, start the aircraft from cold and dark, listen to the sounds both inside and out, and then take it for a short scenic flight out of Impulse Simulations’ Port Lincoln Airport (YPLC) in Australia.
It looks nice, but I’m not sure it’s different enough from the Baron to make the purchase worthwhile.
It has some bugs, but flyable and overall very nice.
But new issue just started yesterday. After about 10 min, usually at takeoff, all the power to the aircraft cuts out, and it goes black. It sets itself back to cold and dark, and cannot be restarted fast enough before it crashes. This has happened the last three times I have flown it.
Now this is a very serious issue!
Interesting. Flew the B55 just this morning after its recent update and there were no power loss issues. Could there be any control assignment conflicts causing your power outages?
Its bizarre! This now happens on every single flight. It happens anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes after I start. Now I wait on the ground until it happens and then I just restart and it does not happen again for that flight.
Right before it happens, I do hear a disconnect like a USB being unplugged and plugged back in. I will check all my USB devices and their properties to make sure under power management that windows is not turning them off.
All USB connections are very secure and no power management issues in the properties of each and every one of them. It’s still happening. It just happened now, but I was at 5000 feet and was able to restart it. Everything all of a sudden just shuts down cold and dark with all switches, including fuel levers turned off. I am baffled as to why this all of a sudden is happening. I will check other some other aircraft to see if it’s a bug in flight simulator or a bug with Caronado.
I had a serious problem with static electricity shocking my controllers. This would knock out my stick or rudder pedals periodically. Perhaps you have a similar issue.
The B55 is an excellent module. Worth every penny.
Hi, if it’s so perfect, does it simulate the feathered propeller? Because it seems like none of the Carenado propellers do that.
It’s so perfect the engine doesn’t die making feathering pretty pointless. I love it!
(I’ve not tried feathering as the engine hasn’t yet died on me)
There is only one aircraft in MSFS2024 that has this effect. When someone does the complete checklist, inside and out, let me know.
There is a bug with the EFIS HSI course deviation indicator. This is the issue I’m referring to:

There is also an OBS bug. It is impossible to set the OBS course on the E1000 avionics suite.
The FPL button on the GNS430 is non-functional.
These are the bugs I have discovered so far. Before I became aware of these issues, I was actually very satisfied with the Carenado B55 and enjoyed flying it a lot.
If you haven’t encountered these bugs, or if they don’t bother you, then I sincerely envy you.
I bought the B55 specifically because it was the only aircraft add-on featuring the E1000 avionics suite. Unfortunately, once I started noticing bugs in the E1000, my satisfaction with the aircraft dropped significantly.
I already reported this through their Zendesk. Since there doesn’t seem to be any sign of it being fixed, I’m posting it here as well.
