Flap problems urgent help required

MSFS 2020 has been not causing any problems. I am more than happy with it.
I use Saitek X52 Pro with buttons I have programmed and have not had any
problems with it at all until today.
Problem is:
Boeing 787-10 flaps at start up are shown as 17.
CRJ 700 flaps at start up are shown as 1.

I have programmed my flaps using button 13 and 14 ( no buttons have been changed for months).
When I extend/retract flaps flaps are shown to increase/decrease but returns to 17 or 1 as above.
Have tried keyboard defaults F5,F6,F7,F8 and same results are obtained.
Boeing 747 and CJ4 same problem.

Would appreciate assistance/advice if possible. Don’t really want to reinstall 150gigs of MSFS.
Any other repair advice appreciated.

One thing to try is to delete one of the aircraft from content store and reinstall it again. See if the problem exist.

There is very likely no point reinstalling the sim and if it were a particular aircraft issue the other aircraft would be unaffected.

I think you are saying that when you use a button to change a flap setting, it reverts back to the default for that aircraft?

The only thing I can think off is to type “flaps” into the MSFS controls search box, then go through each device you have installed to make sure the flaps are only configured for the devices you want them to be.

Can you are us your screenshot on the Flaps Bindings? I’ve heard behaviour issues with flaps and spoilers before, but they’re generally misunderstanding between the different terms of Set, Toggle, Hold, Set On/Off, and Axises and thus bound them incorrectly.

I would suggest checking all your controllers and see if there is any axis assigned to flaps. If you change using the buttons and then it returns to 17, perhaps the sim sees an axis somewhere and returns to that setting.

Hi

I would like to thank those members who provided suggestions to fix the problems I am experiencing.
Also, my apologies for not replying to your suggestions beforehand but I have been far from idle attempting to fix the the problem. I have spent countless hours over 3 days seeking a solution but as of now problem remains.

  1. Before I posted I had thoroughly checked for conflicts with my allocation of buttons within MSFS
using my Saitek X52 Pro but found no conflicts. I was one of the original alpha/beta testers so I
consider myself very familiar with problems that other users have had with hardware, namely
    joysticks and yokes etc.

  2. I even tried my new X56 but flap problems remained and have gone back to my X52 Pro for the
    time being.

  3. I continually create disk images. Currently latest ones are dated 17 and 20 March 2021. So I
restored both individually and proceeded testing for conflicts. Again none found but flap problems
    remain.

  4. Had a cloned 1TB Samsung SSD dated 25 Jan 2021. I deferred Windows update so that hopefully
rule out a Window 10 H2 problem that might somehow be affecting MSFS. Naturally MSFS updated
to version 1.14.5.0 released on 9 Mar 2021. The flap problem was reproduced. No conflicts with X52
Pro were found. So back to 20 March 2021 image.

  5. Removed Community folder from simulator. Problem remains. I should state before removing that
folder I removed any liveries that I had installed. Problem remains

  6. I believe that latest version of MSFS could be the culprit. I currently have a communication with
Zendesk regarding live weather but have not heard from them apart from computer generated
response. 9 days ago. Obviously a waste of my time dealing with them.

  7. I only fly the following jets : CRJ 700,A32NX, CJ4, CJ$747-8i, and 787-10 but recently have only
been flying FBW A32NX and didn’t notice flaps problem.

  8. These are the flap setting being displayed in the sim when ready to taxi:
    CRJ 700 (1), A32NX (1+F), CJ4 (1), 747 (1) and 787 (17)

  9. Rough Google check for T/O flaps CRJ 700 (20), A32NX (1+F), CJ4 (1), 747-8i ( 5-10) and
787-10 ( 5 -10). Since I installed CRJ 700 I notice that only in this aircraft that there is no hand brake
on advice and toggle lights in this aircraft only turns on/off landing lights. I will have to check Aerosoft
    forums.

  10. In CRJ 700 on initial roll on runway Flaps warning looking for more flaps. Other aircraft don’t
    experience this advice.

  11. Finally just after T/O flaps on all aircraft above can be increased/decreased as expected with no
return to T/O flaps as in my original post.

I apologize for the length of this post but I felt it was necessary to describe the problems thoroughly.
I would appreciate any further advice/assistance if possible please. I really don’t want to consider a 153 gig reinstall of MSFS. Maybe next update might see a solution.

These positions are consistent with a flap lever set around let’s say 30% of the way. There must be something wrong with your controller settings, the sensitivities, or even the calibration.
Since you have disk images you can revert to, I would suggest resetting all your controllers to default profile and also recalibrating in the windows cpl… regardless if they seem okay. COnfirm you don’t have any external program (like controller OEM configuration program, or even FSUIPC) managing controllers. Then start the sim and see where your flaps are…

Hi Mike Papa

Thanks for your response.

  1. Had recalibrated twice in the last couple of days.
  2. what could be wrong with my controller settings. Even using default setting in X52 same problem.
  3. Sensitivities reset. Same problem.
  4. I completely have disconnected X52 and selected default keyboard. Problem still exists.
  5. Where do you suggest I go from here to solve the problem?

After all that, typing “solved” doesn’t help anyone else.

What was the cause and what was the fix?

Am I p____d. You betcha!

After 3+ days with little or no sleep and after 299 views of my topic I received
4 replies from members which I have acknowledged. However none of their assistance
basically was of assistance because I had already covered those topics before I posted.
I have been with MSFS since beta testing started so I can say that I am familiar with
the vagaries of the sim.

Have you got any advice that might have fixed the problem. I think not or you might have been
prompted to assist.

Yes the problem is solved.

After uninstall/reinstall MSFS 2020 and 10hours and 156gigs later problem was solved.
Flaps are now be shown correctly and I am able to increase/decrease flaps on the aircraft as
mentioned above.

So something in MSFS had been corrupted and a reinstall fixed it.

Is that the end of the matter? NO!!!

On every process from the start of the sim I am continually confronted with dialog box of GAMING UI with the comments SYNCING DATA - WE SHOULD BE DOWN SOON. I have never experienced this problem before, so another 6 hours on Google and this Forum. Sign in and out of Microsoft Store
and XBOX. Obviously my data is not for some reason is not being installed in the cloud. Teredo fault in Xbox researched and cleared. Registry faults checked, none found. Command prompts suggestions followed up, IP helper checked and okay.

That is about the limits of my technical ability as described in this response and my others in this post.
Forget ZENDESK as I still await a reply from a submission made 10 days ago.

If you or other peeps have any further suggestions to rectify the Gaming UI issue please put them forward. They will be appreciated.

My apologies if I have offended you but as I stated I AM P____D OFF.

PS: And this is the problem with MSFS. No ability to forgo updates etc.
