I had that one in the original steel box, and I had 2002 Pro before that. The rest, I couldn’t say.

Hah, 7/10 … but I think that only shows my age, more than anything… cool quiz!

Thanks!

Always nice to see how we got here

Oof 8/10. I started out with a combination of FS2002 and XP7, then soon moved to FS2004 (ahem, FS9) upon its release. I lived in Indonesia at the time, so I waited a full month (which felt like an eternity for an over-eager kid) for a family friend to pick up a copy in the US, then bring it with them to where we were.

Of course though, the family computer was a potato and my first run on FS9 (DC-3 over Meigs) was less simulation and more slide show. I would continue using FS9 till 2013 when I finally moved to FSX, but shortly afterwards moved on to P3D2 upon its release.

Really miss the C208 amphibian though. I still can’t believe nobody has come up with a replacement addon for that to this day. I just might start learning 3dsMax out of spite. :joy:

Good score!

Yes, I fondly remember days of games magazines, mail order and waiting for the post…

Nailed the MS versions. Missed nearly everything else, heh.

I may have been ahead of the hardware curve at the time, but I remember MSFS 2004 A Century of Flight being the first version that actually ran well out of the box on my PC.

Never tried XP then? Not even the demo?

I have…twice. The first was around the year 2000. The software had graphical issues with my GeForce 2 MX that could never be solved with the hours of support I spent on the phone with Laminar…remember when that was a thing? After trying driver update after driver update and sim update after sim update, I gave up on XP for a long while and only flew with MS products. I did eventually give XP one more try, with version 11. I have flown with XP 11 from release date up until MSFS 2020.

I still have both on my PC. I’m mainly a GA armchair pilot and prefer the scenery of MSFS over XP. If I want to get into some high altitude airliner flying, I’ll switch over to XP.

If we could somehow meld the best features in both sims, I think we’d have a darn near perfect home simulator.

EDIT: d -a -r -n is a censored word…smh..

Yes, I think most would agree if we could mix the 2 together we’d be into a winner

Gosh d-arn it!
