Yes - when I was about to start the engine I had the throttles slightly raised and just to make sure I hammered them and the engine spooled. It might really be that they check now even more if throttles are really off.
thanks mate! Iām not sure if it was the re-install or the throttles completely down - as long as it flies it flies ![]()
After doing a couple more flights I can confirm that restarting the flight, right after loading does improve the NAV function of the autopilot.
I can also confirm that by mapping a controller button to āDisengage Autothrottleā I can get controll of the engines after stop responding. While I am glad to find a work around, that you would need to do that is troubling, especially since I am not engaging the auth throttle in the first place.
I agree completely with this on the ārestart to improve nav functionā - a great tip. Thanks!
Now can anyone tell me why I canāt get cancel the bleeping sound I get on take off and during approach after I deploy slats?
And, how the heck to I get it to follow an ILS from the flight plan on the GNS 530?
For ILS you must switch to NAV mode, it doesnāt work in GPS mode. And of course you should have the ILS freq set on both NAV radios.
Hi,
If you get an intermittent horn with the flaps other than up, please check if your speed brake lever (spoilers) is fully retracted. This horn could be the flap/speedbrake warning. On the 727 using the speedbrake while airborne with any flap setting other than UP is prohibited. Thus the warning horn.
I thought I had the speed brake lever fully back but will check again.
ah, thatās a help. It doesnāt take the ILS frequency from the GNS then?
No, a GPS is only good for the legs of a flight.
To use ground based navigation systems such as an ILS or VOR you must change the Gps over so it isnāt controlling the aircraft.
Looks like it was because I had only mapped the spoiler axis to my joystick and it wasnāt setting the spoiler completely shut. Thanks.
Update 1.0.4 released.
ā* #1033 - Improved engine smoke effectā. Looks promising
Update loaded, after about an hour of total normal flight and without touching anything my engines suddenly quit and, of course, the plane crashes
Well⦠then you have to work a bit more on your engines out landings ![]()
Over the ocean⦠like Sully
So Iāve decided to get the 727ā¦
Iām loving this planeā¦
Just a couple of thingsā¦
Iāve noticed that the course selector during the flight, only goes up and down in tens, and I had a weird situation where the autopilot wouldnāt select heading mode and then the autopilot wouldnāt turn on when I turned it off to take over a situationā¦
Alsoā¦
Iām not sure if its something to do with Sydney, but I put in the syd VOR to track but, it picked up the distance bit but wouldnāt engage the thing that lets you track the course i.e when you want to track a inbound or outboundā¦
Iāll have to double check after work but I donāt recall the course selector only moving in 10ās. I do seem to recall selecting courses down to the individual degree.
The autopilot in the 727 isnāt as intuitive as more modern aircraft. Iād double check you have the correct lateral mode selected, you are on an intercept course with the desired radial, and also that youāve turned on the two radio masters behind the captainās seat. If youāre using the GNS instead of the CIV-A, also might be worth checking what source youāre in (NAV or GPS). Canāt remember at the moment if you need to flip it back to NAV if you want to use a VOR radial when youāre using the GNS. I havenāt used the GNS in the 727 for a while so Iām rusty on the nuances there.
SY is a DME only, so thereās no VOR component, only distance. Side note: I think there might be a TACAN there, but either way, no VOR, so the sim is correct.
Oh gotcha thanks heaps for thatā¦
One that note of pure dmesā¦
What is the point of dmes and how are they implemented in a aviation/direction thing⦠Especially if your have no ability to track it in the way a VOR⦠Nz has a number of those dmes and Iāve always wondered what their purpose isā¦
Regarding Sydney⦠Itās odd for a airport of its size that they donāt have a VOR or is the two parallel and one cross runway thing just a headache??
After basically two flights, Iāve just completed one of the more ambitious flights⦠A flight from Istanbul to Tehran..
Many many waypointsā¦
On that question of lots of waypoint flightsā¦
I got a bit⦠Near the end and noticed there were a few waypoints were between vors⦠I just decided to miss a few of those out and used the coordinates for the VORā¦
Would you guys do the sameā¦? Especially if itās basically a straight line between vorsā¦?
No issues with the VOR course selector but it was odd with the Sydney to Auckland flight when the vor course selector would only increase and decrease in 10s
